Young and ambitious Maria Hill returns to the SHIELD offices late one night after a holiday party to retrieve some files she'll dive into over her Christmas break. First, how does The Director Carter know who she is?! Second, what is it like running SHIELD? Did she have to fight to get where she is? How many men have tried to discredit her over the years? What are her thoughts on the feminist movement? How does she juggle her personal life with her professional one? Is it true that she once punched a guy on an Air Force base when she was barely old enough to drink? Does she still incorporate boxing in her fitness regimen? How does she feel about the current presidential administration? If she had to recommend one advanced degree for a fellow woman in this line of work, what would it be? And as all of these questions populate in her mind like wild fires in California, Maria is absolutely mortified when one slips out rather inelegantly: "Is it true, the stories about you and Captain America?" Peggy pauses to narrow her eyes in a fascinated study of the young agent. It's not often that people work up the nerve to ask her. Most of the time, they just whisper about it behind her back. Before Maria's panic can lead her to walk back the question, Peggy reaches for the glass she had just abandoned on her desk. Her wrist sweeps in a small circle, sloshing the gin and ice around, before she sips from the rim. When she's done, she gestures to the leather Chesterfield sofa and orders, "Have a seat, Agent Hill, and I'll tell you all about them."
