There was a little girl
Just trudging through the snow
The baby girl was lost
She knew not where to go
She wandered through the forest
Ice crunching 'neath her feet
Until she found a tree
Whose scent was warm and sweet
“How can there be such warmth
In icy cold a place?”
The little girl did wonder
Confusion on her face
And then the tree did answer
From deep within its trunk
“Come in and see just how”
And so the young girl slunk
She entered through a doorway
That took her down below
The earth and into somewhere
Where crazy flowers grow
Where animals did scamper
Where happy voices spoke
Where colours gathered round her
And swirled in mist and smoke
“You said you’d give me answers!”
She shouted in despair
Dark silence then descended
And quietened the air
And there she saw a vision
She never thought she’d eee
An earthly globe was glowing
As vivid as could be
It wasn’t just an image
It was the world for real
Just smaller and up close
But there to touch and feel
And when the girl observed it
Reality was clear
“These humans are a virus
Infesting far and near
“They’ve taken up the planet
And plundered it for gain
Their greed, it knows no limits
We’re nothing but a stain
“Infesting land and water
And riddling it with grime!”
The little girl did realise
That with her little time
The only thing that mattered
Was not to be dragged in
To greed and evil doings
To vanity and sin
Just keep yourself as pure
As the beauty in your eyes
Don’t worry 'bout the details
The whats, the whens, the whys
But focus on what matters
The smiles of those you love
The way your spirit hugs them
And holds them from above
Those words were somewhat jumbled
And didn’t make much sense
But the girl did feel much better
More easy and less tense
She climbed back through the colours
She tiptoed past the smiles
She skipped back to the forest
For miles and miles and miles
And when she got back to it
The snow had melted through
The bright sun shone down on her
And glistened on the dew
She sometimes sees that globe still
Just deep within her mind
She sees the pain and turmoil
But always she can find
A smile amongst the sorrow
A laugh within the pain
A way to lose her worries
And be at peace again.
