Buffy is totally a sheltie!! Look at that face!! Not only are they literal lookalikes but they're also very similar in character. Shelties are so so active and so so smart, they love friends they love family they're the opposite of phlegmatic!! They're very curious and they're not exactly looking for trouble but you know. They'll bite if/when they have to. Also, being a shepherd, being a leader is literally in their blood and if you don't listen to them they will show you how dissatisfied they are by barking SO loud.
Cordelia
Cordelia is a rough collie! Specifically this ↑ color. She and Buffy are basically the same, when you think about it. Which makes sense as they are foils of each other. So it would make sense for Cordeliadog to be pretty much exactly the same as Buffydog (her name would be Ruffy btw) but sized up. Also! Collie is the breed of a dog who was [one of] the first dog to play a main character in a movie ("Rescued by Rover") so I think it's a nice tribute to Cordi being an actress. Oh how I love you Cordelia
Spike
That's another lookalike in my opinion. Look at that jawline!! Doberman pinschers have the reputation of fearsome aggressive creatures for a reason (kinda). They're THE loyal dogs. They take ZERO shit when it comes to protecting their person and they will do anything they can to keep said person safe. But guarding aside, with their family they're very gentle and goofy and loving and get along with kids! Just please don't touch The Person if you don't want your head bitten off.
I think Spike is specifically a white doberman, even though it's not recognized as The breed color. I think it's neat that they can get sunburnt in the context of Spike being a vampire. Also Spike and Pinscher sound very similar to me. And I think he has his tail cropped and ears docked.
Giles
Norfolk terriers are probably the calmest of all Terrier breeds. They don't think as much of themselves as other terriers but still can show their character. They're naturally smart and love to work. And by "love" I mean they're OBSESSED with whatever they enjoy doing and there's a high chance they'll forget where they are and who they're with if they find something interesting.
Normally they're not yappy and won't bark for no reason but they can be really really loud if they don't like something.
Additionally, they are very patient with kids and get along with them very well.
Willow
The silliest American Cocker Spaniel! They're fun to be around, they're so gentle and goofy. Very smart and curious creatures, they learn new things with ease but they can be a bit childish and naive at times. Also can be stubborn and get carried away but they're very lovable nevertheless.
Tara
A beautiful Clumber Spaniel with gorgeous downturned eyes. They're the calmest and the softest dogs! Very big and perfect for snuggles. You'd think they're way more popular than they actually are. They have a very gentle demeanor, express no interest in dominating and being a leader, and are very patient and loving and peaceful. But it's also kinda hard to gain their trust - they're very cautious around strangers. They won't be agressive towards you if they don't like you, they'll just leave.
Oz
No, he's not an Irish wolfhound because he's a werewolf, it's just a coincidence. The real reason is that Irish wolfhounds are probably the most phlegmatic dogs ever. Sure, they can get agressive if you attack their person or something like that, but generally? They're just chill. They barely speak and they're just... there... Scarily quiet creatures full of love... Also very smart, well-behaved and that leader instinct thing shepherds have. Kinda just stay away from the drama. But if you hurt them, it's PERSONAL. They can and will throw a tantrum if you did something (in their point of view) unjust. But just don't do that so they'll be your barely emotional fluffy blob of love forever, OK?

The dalbohund. A guardian dog from Sweden, had been used for it's courage and bold character. Unfortunately, it went extinct and nobody remembers it. Except for me I love you anya I love you dalbohund I always think of you and miss you dearly
Drusilla
A hauntingly beautiful black hound. Since she was the one to sire Spike the doberman, and hounds were among the breeds dobermans come from.

I head canon that, in canon, he cut his hair for practicality reasons---He couldn't brush his hair alone because of the mirror problem--- so in the AU he kept it long. Drusilla likes to braid it, and he lets her. He also lets her influence his clothing choices. In a way, he feels that by doing so, he is making up for what he took from her. He is actually being the mother she needed.
Drusilla
I decided not to change much about her as I just love how she looks. I saw that in the series they dressed her in white when she was ill and red when she was cured, so here she is ill, and if in the Au she gets cured, maybe I'll dress her in red.
Spike
I've just made his hair a little bit longer. He is in the same situation as Drusilla. I love his design already. In the AU, he never killed the second slayer, Nikki Woods, but I love his coat, and that doesn't mean he couldn't get it another way.
Quennie
My OC. I have a presentation post just on her backstory, but the basics are that she is Spike's Childe and in love with Drusilla. She is very self-conscious of the fact that she is not a true blonde because Drusilla likes blondes like her daddy.
Jesse
In the AU, he lives past the Harvest as he gets kidnapped and forcibly adopted by the family. I have kept the hair he had as a vampire, but have added a higher pompadour, because in my opinion, he thinks greasers were the coolest.
That's the introduction to every member of the family. I may do the same for other characters just for fun, but I don't think they will actually change much.

spike isn't just weirdly human for a vampire. he's slayer coded.
i mean what other vampire has an 'honor code' like spike? who else relishes the fight -- not the kill or suffering -- the fight! like spike?? like a slayer...
Okay, I have been WAITING to talk about this for so long. There is something about Spike narratively that just inherently connects him to slayers and aligns him with them. It’s insane. It’s the way he understands the death wish because he also possesses one. It’s the way he seeks out Slayers as Slayers seek out vampires. The way that he quickly turns to fighting and hunting demons/vampires because he needs the fight just as Buffy does. And also there’s the fact that 2 of his very trademark features are connected to Slayers; his coat and his scar. YOU LOOK AT HIM AND ALL YOU SEE IS THE SLAYER. And you can call me a psycho for this, but this is why I think the coat is interesting and not revolting or horrible; because it’s not just a trophy. He never directly tells anybody it’s a dead slayer's coat. He doesn’t treat it like it's just a trophy or a thing of pride because it’s not. It’s a thing he derives strength from. A thing that season 7 explicitly tells us helps him be Spike. Its an armor. A shield. It’s like a berserker wearing animal skins. But it’s more than that still because of the way he wraps it around himself after he’s resurrected against his will. The way he hides in it.
Anyway, I’m going on a tangent here but, finally, another thing that haunts me is this line from the FFL script:
There is just something about Spike that is connected to Slayers and ultimately it all goes back to Buffy and him being her foil/shadow. The same person-ism of it all. The way that he goes after Slayers because Buffy doesn’t exists yet and it’s the only way to be close to her until she does. The way that one day he will emulate Buffy, her heroism, her sacrifice, and so many other things. The way the narrative will align him with her sense of self. But until then, perhaps the closest he can get to that is wearing a dead Slayer's coat as if to almost metaphorically become one.
You’re all covered with her. I look at you, all I see is the Slayer.
