     she wishes she could believe them. there’s a part of her that whispers, thank you. but there’s a different part – louder, more aggressive – that speaks instead:   ❝  i have nothing but broken parts and sharp edges. never had much strength, never needed much courage.  ❞

     ❝  NO, but we don’t have a choice.  ❞   it’s not about you, stephen. it doesn’t matter if he can’t withstand this; nobody else is going to try and there’s an entire planet at stake, his planet. his responsibility. 

                    apprehension  filled  the  stone’s  eyes.  they  weren’t  afraid  of  being  hurt  ---  they  were  durable  thanks  to  their  sheer  amount  of  power.  they  were  more  worried  about  their  power,  &  how  it  would  affect  the  sorcerer.  he  was,  after  all,  only  human.  ❛   are  you  quite  sure  we  can  do  this ? ❜   

                    ❛   this  has  has  been  building  since  i  have  been  breathing. ❜   though  breathing  was  an  optional  activity  for  the  being,  they  used  the  word  in  order  to  seem  more  ALIVE.  their  words  drew  back  slightly,  fear  beginning  to  trickle  at  the  prospect  of  what  they  have  seen  in  the  future.  ❛   &  i  know  how  it’s  going  to  end. ❜

                    fear.  for  the  first  time  in  a  very  long  time,  that  was  the  only  thing  they  felt.  their  hand  dragged  up  their  face,  tangling  with  emerald  locks  as  their  eyes  widened.  ❛   i  see  NOTHING  but  the  candle  in  the  mirror.  no  visions  of  the  FUTURE. ❜   being  without  their  abilities  terrified  them.  if  not  for  themself,  then  for  the  universe.  what  would  become  of  time  itself ?

                    being  an  infinity  stone,  especially  one  that  can  see  all  of  time,  they  knew  what  the  passage  of  said  time  had  in  store  for  them.  it  was  useless  to  hope  for  anything  else,  in their  opinion.  ❛   what’s  the  point  in  dreaming  if  it  can  never  materialize ? ❜ 

                    though  they  may  not  be  human,  they  are  very  aware  of  the  wonders  of  validation  &  encouragement.  they  smile  to  the  other.  ❛   you  have  COURAGE  &  strength  you  barely  know. ❜  

                    ❛  the  sun  is  UP,  the  sky  is  blue. ❜   they  may  not  know  the  other  at  all,  but  they  could  tell  she  wasn’t  where  she  belonged.  she  came  from  another  world  ---  one  that  is,  perhaps,  more  kind  than  terrans  can  offer.  the  stone  hoped  they  could  be  that  kindness  the  planet  lacked.  ❛  it’s  beautiful  —  &  so  are  you. ❜
