While I did put up a poll to gauge other people's opinions, I do think of it more as a retelling of SF64, rather than a separate timeline's Lylat Wars like OG Star Fox or SFZero, which both had different pathways and events from SF64. The levels, mission objectives, and pathways/branches are almost exactly the same, even down to the boss fights and most of the dialogue.

While I still maintain that some characters' proportions or details should've been tweaked, I did really like the realistic style overall. (But seriously please un-bedhead Falco,) That said, they look much better in gameplay than the trailers or even the official artwork weirdly enough?

I never wanna hear anything bad about Slippy ever again (silly) But for real this is by far my favorite incarnation of Slippy (and I say this as a classic!Slippy defender).

Voice casting + delivery was either really good or really mediocre; there were definitely some parts that got botched. RIP to the Macbeth conductor's death scream.

Fox is a bit more spirited and less formal than in SF64; someone on Reddit pointed out that much of the difference is likely regional, as Fox's portrayals in the English and Japanese releases of the Mario Galaxy Movie are different, and the Japanese release has him more in line with his original personality.

I'm glad Falco still sucks as much as he used to.

They really did sell Peppy's "veteran fighter pilot regrettably turned team dad figure" vibe perfectly.

The wormholes got a major visual upgrade, particularly with its obstacles.

Lots of details from other sources got incorporated, such as Slippy's father being named or Falco having his old squad's name on the back of his uniform.

Some of the script changes ended up adding, removing, or otherwise changing certain details; such changes include confirming that Andrew's main if not only reason for being in Star Wolf is so the team gets paid), Falco's reaction to Zoness being a lot more subdued, or Katt's attraction to Falco being a lot more ambiguously present (+ being less ambiguously unrequited).

They made Andrew even more blatantly pathetic and reliant on Andross for everything. As he should be.

LOVE how they adapted Andross + his "true form". Still wish there was an explanation for him being giant.
