What happened to all the ideas discussed during the European Youth Event 2014, when 6,000 young Europeans met in Strasbourg to discuss the EU's future? From 20 January former EYE participants will present their ideas to a number of Parliament's committees
Over the last few weeks the European Parliament hosted the EYE hearings. Former EYE participants had the opportunity to present the ideas from the event to seven parliamentary committees and receive feedback from European policy makers.
The hearings kicked off on 2 December 2014 with a presentation to the employment and social affairs committee and continued throughout January with presentations to six other committees: constitutional affairs; culture and education; foreign affairs; industry, research and energy; civil liberties, justice and home affairs; and environment, public health and food safety.
The ideas presented touched on several topics that are important to young people, such as the voting age, internet access, recycling, as well as immigration, European values and youth unemployment. The EYE participants also argued in favour of education that better prepared students for the demands of the labour market as well as more support for internships. They also talked about security and foreign affairs issues.

With nearly one in four young Europeans unemployed, the EU needs to look harder for solutions. The European parliament wanted to hear suggestion from those directly involved: young people. On 6-8 November 2013, the Parliament hosted the Agora event, inviting young workers and job seekers from across the EU to debate how youth unemployment should be tackled.
You have finished your studies. You are motivated, open-minded and a team player. But you are unemployed. This applies to many young Europeans. Watch the video to see, how the youth guarantee can give you a chance.
Working, not working and why? Where is the twenty-first century world of work? What alternatives do unemployed young people have? Is it really necessary to panic? This is what the Franco-German television network ARTE intends to explain through the "World of Work" - an interactive workshop examining young people's employment expectations and their views on the current job market.
