Darcy Gibbons - Illustrator

Age: 18 Location: Wellington, New Zealand Experience: Whole life Equipment: Moleskin Sketchbooks, Ballpoint Pens, Acrylic and Watercolour paints

Darcy has been drawing his entire life, it's what he does in his spare time and it is his passion. Darcy does a lot of different experimentations, but predominantly works in moleskin sketchbooks. He has also done some digital design work with photoshop and is starting to venture into tattooing as well. Darcy's work is mostly done with ballpoint pen and a variety of other dry medias, sometimes accompanied with wet media like acrylic and watercolor paint. A lot of what Darcy does is a flow of conciousness, which is why he says he loves to work in moleskins, as his works can be collected and viewed as a progression of ideas. Darcy says he 'tires to explore some surreal themes, with ideas about nature and absurdity'. He goes on to say that  he 'loves detail and penmanship'.

Firstly we'd like to say that it's great to have an illustration submission, and what better way than to kick off with Darcy's high mark! We love the detail and thoughts that are so obvious in Darcy's work, as well as the colours in some of his illustrations. Looking forward to seeing more of her work on his tumblr.

Zack Ahmed - Photographer

Age: 19 Experience: 1 year Location: Melbourne, Australia Equipment: Canon 600D, 18-55mm lens, Apple’s Preview                    Canon AE-1, 50mm lens

Zack has always had a strong interest in photography, but has never pursued his photographic interests until quite recently. He started using digital photography in 2011 when he got his first camera. However he has also recently been working hard with film photography, having bought a film camera in January. In more recent months, Zack has been giving himself time off to practice and develop his own style of photography. He is currently in my 3rd year of university studying a double Bachelors of Art and Science. Dispite his hard working in education he still finds that every few minutes he spends on photography he learns so much more. Zack says that 'even if its just 5 minutes in my backyard, taking photos of the trees or my cat, I gain a deeper understanding of how certain shots turn out in certain conditions'.

I'm sure you'll agree with us when we say that we love the natural look that Zack is able to keep in his photos. This is due to his minimal editing that makes his photos look pure and how they should be. Sometimes maybe we process our images too much and loose the real look of photography. Can't wait to see the images Zack will be shooting in a years time!

Matt Chapple - Photographer Age:18 Experience: 1 year Location: Wiltshire, UK Matt is an 18 years old student from Wiltshire in the UK. He is studying Environmental Science at the University of Birmingham. He started taking photographs about 18 months ago with his iPhone 5. But since has picked up a Canon 700D in July last year. He take photographs with a documentary-style, capturing day-to-day moments. 

We really like Matt's style of photography here at Exposure, how he is able to produce great colours and his sense of composition.

Emily Mayer - Portrait Photographer

Age: 16 Experience: 2 years Location: Oregon, USA Equipment: Canon Rebel T3i + tripod + remote shutter

Emily is a persistent dreamer and a relatively young photographer. She is always learning more about photography and continues to grow. She says that she 'may not have top-of-the-market equipment', but she is 'hard working and has many years ahead of her to pursue her passions'. The beautiful blues and greens of Oregon have been her home her whole life. She states  'there is not a week when I am not out taking photos by the mountains, hiking in the woods with my camera and a friend, or watching the sunset with my trusty canine partner'.

I'm sure you'll all agree that Emily's  photography is truly beautiful, and her portraiture skills are already brilliant! Looking forward to seeing more of her work and where photography takes her.
