Drinking
Watching Quantum of Solace and drinking, this should be interesting. And by interesting I mean a horrible idea.

"Listen to my voice, okay? I need you to stay with me. I'm bringing you to the hospital."
âJackâŚâ His voice sounded far away and muffled, as though he were wearing earplugs.
He wasnât sure if he squeezed Jackâs hand or not. He tried but it was impossible to tell. He knew at least his eyes were open. That was good. Jack kept telling him to keep his eyes open. Only a little longer, just like Jack said. He could hold out against the waves of pain a little longer.
He pushed through the gate as soon as the guards signaled the okay and raced towards the medical center. âCome on Q, keep squeezing.  Come on!â He knew his own hand was shaking, âJust live you idiot.  If you do Iâll buy you a damn cat.â
The car jolted as he stopped in front of the medical center and he threw the car into park as the medics opened the door and started to pull the other man out.
"I can't breathe."
"Shit," Q couldnât help but freeze up. He didnât know what to do. Tech, he understood, could work with. If it broke, he could fix it, simple as that. But people? No, he wasnât great with people.
Oh yes, he should probably call medical. Onto that.
âIt is completely necessary, you are to remain here until tomorrow morning so that they can check that everything is as it should be and then, and only then, you will be discharged and allowed to recover and rest at home. So get back into that bed or I will make sure that you donât get out for a week. You know I can. Just until tomorrow morning.â
Q knew the double 0s hated medical. He also knew that they hated being told what to do by anyone, even their quartermaster. It had been the worst in his first few months in the job when he had been dealing with all of them for the first time. Something to do with his age apparently had made them all rather upset.
He frowned at Q, âI am not just going to sit in this bed alone, bored out of my skull.  If Iâm going to recover, Iâd rather it be at home, preferably with some scotch.â
He took a few deep breaths, talking with a chest tube was clearly not the smartest idea heâd had. Â His head was starting to hurt and wasnât that just great. Â Painkillers would be a very good idea right about now.

"Are you lost?"
"Thereâs no way out."
"You canât just go out on your own!"
"Do you have a gun?"
"Stop! I/We need help!"
"Interested in a trade?"
"Donât go in there. I trapped a few inside."
"They got ____."
"Letâs board up the windows and barricade the door."
"I saw your car on the side of the road. Need help?"
"I donât think weâre going to make it."
"Weâre almost out of fuel."
"One of them almost got me."
"I think we can make it."
"Donât get too close to the window."
"Are they still out there?"
"Iâve been bittenâŚ"
"Youâre gonna have to put me down."
"Hold still, youâre bleeding."
"Iâll keep you safe."
"âŚI canât do it. I canât shoot you."
"It didnât bite you, did it?"
"Is it dead?"
Paralysis || Q & Jack
He nodded dully. âThanks.â He looked up at him tearfully. âI could, M knows the situation. I probably should for everyone elseâs sake. Iâm sure theyâre sick of tiptoeing around the office.â He rubbed his eyes under his glasses.
âI donât want to be at home. I thought Iâd just distract myself with work but obviously itâs not helping. My other brother is organizing the funeral. He keeps calling. Probably to check on me.â He gave a hollow laugh. âWith good reason, I suppose. Iâm clearly not handling it well.â
He stared sadly at his desk. âHe was my best friend. I talked to him about everything. He was always there for me, no matter what. I just- I donât know what Iâm going to do now.â
He froze at seeing Qâs tear filled face, unable to do anything in the face of real, true grief. Â He shook his head to clear the very real urge he had to hug Q close and tell him everything was going to be okay. Â âYou could and you will. Come on, grab your coat, Iâll take you home. Â You can call M from the car.â
He squeezed his shoulder once before letting go and straightening up. âQ, if you donât want to talk to him, youâre not obligated to. Â Youâre allowed to handle your grief however you want.â Â Although now that he was thinking about it, maybe it wasnât such a good idea to leave the quartermaster all alone during a time like this.
âWeâll grab some take out and something to drink on the way, and you can tell me all about your brother if you want. Â I bet two geniuses like you got into some big trouble as kids.â Â He gave Q a friendly smile, before he moved towards the door. Â He couldnât replace Qâs brother, but he could at least keep him company while he worked through the mourning of him.
Fingers
Jack grinned at Q as the other man touched his fingers to Jackâs, âIâll bring you back a souvenir from Jakarta if you manage to convince me over the comm not to blow anything up. Â Maybe even a hard drive, without bullet holes in it this time.â
âOh? Quite vain arenât we Quartermaster?âÂ
He set his comm in his coat pocket for safe keeping until he was at his destination and picked up his gun again, intending to put it in his shoulder holster.  âHow boring was IT for you?  Be honest.  Was it all âdid you try turning it off and turning it back on again miss?â Or did you get to do anything enjoyable?â
âIncredibly vain. It runs in the family.â He smirked.
âOh, IT was alright. It was a lot of that, yes, but it meant I had a lot of time to study for and work on my masters degree. Thankfully Iâd dumped my complete arse of a boyfriend just before I was hired so I didnât have any distractions those last two years at uni.â
âWell youâre just full of surprises arenât you?â
He smirked and set the gun back down, sitting.  Now he was intrigued, âMasters degree and boyfriends who are complete arses. Do tell.â
"I still canât get âcoming round the mountainâ out of my mind. Itâs like one of those phrases, like âdrop it like itâs hotâ that I really wish Iâd never heard."
He smirked at Q as looked looked up from his mission brief. âAre you hoping youâll have occasion to use it in conversation?  Because I wager that whoever you say it to will think youâre daft. Or at least even more of a crazy genius than we already suspected.âÂ
He tried not to laugh, imagining Q singing âcoming round the mountainâ. Or worse yet, âdrop it like its hotâ, he snorted and buried his face back his mission brief to hide his snickers.
âSounds lovely. Although, you say that as though I havenât got my own stash.â He grinned.
He nodded. âThough, a true double or nothing would be 40 meters.â He said, pushing the button and sending the target back another 10. He lined up rather more carefully than he had before and fired. The clusters werenât quite as close this time around, but three out of the five were definitely kill shots and the other two werenât half bad either. âI told you I test everything I send out myself.âÂ
âOh? Well far be it for me to insult your stash of secret alcohol. Â Weâll retire to your office after this and get properly drunk.â
He shook his head smiling as Q pushed it back to 40 meters and tried again.  âIf I beat you at this length, does that still mean I have to bring my whole kit back?â  He took out his own gun and fired 5 shots, all kill shots. âI do have to admit, I am impressed though,â he said as he holstered his gun and took of his safety glasses. âYouâre not half bad for a boffin.â
Shine~
He felt his breath stop. Â He stared, completely unable to comprehend that Q, his friend, the person he relied on to get him home safe on every mission, was meant to be his killer. Â His hand was frozen, clenched around Qâs as he looked between the shining mark on the inside of his wrist and then man he called Quartermaster. Â Had they never touched before this? He wracked his brain trying to remember a time in which they could have had skin to skin contact, but came up blank.
God, Q was really going to be the death of him wasnât he? Â It was hard not to feel the absolute betrayal settle in his chest, weighing down on him. Â After all theyâd been through, every time this man has brought him home safe from a seemingly impossible mission, and now heâd be unable to trust him.
"QâŚ"
He blinked, frowning. This was so unlike him. Jack always visited with him when he returned from an assignment. âJack, I know somethingâs up. Itâs all over your face.â Which was unusual too. Field agents excelled at keeping their emotions hidden, and 003 was no exception. He leaned in a little, lowering his voice. âWhatâs wrong?â
He couldnât tell Q, he just couldnât.  âIâm just tired is all, you know how it is after a mission.â He shook his head, âI should probably get back upstairs and get my paperwork over and done with before I head home.â
He tried to give a reassuring smile as he made for the door to Qâs office. âIâll see you in a few days when my mandatory leave is over, okay? I promise.â He lied as he stopped by the door. Â
He looked back at him, trying not to let the broken trust heâd had for the man show on his face. âTake care of yourself, donât let the other double ohs push you around. Only Iâm allowed to do that.â

Such a typical answer, always showing off that they know a good place to go for a drink. Charles knew London inside out so he knew all the decent pubs whenever he needed a place to reside to. âDepends, Iâve been living in London longer than you have so I know which are decent places and not. Surprise me, Iâm intrigued by this knowledge you claim of.â He only knows this fact because he researched every single little detail about Jack, who he would be working with. It was a bluff all along, he knows everything about Jack. He was a little in front of him by now, turning to speak to him face to face while standing with hands in his leather jacket pockets. âYou married?â An eyebrow raised, with a slight smile.
âWell I did just move back, but if you have a better place...âHe shrugged and turned towards the road, to begin walking.
His defenses were up at this manâs questions, he did not know where he was going with this line of questioning. Â Jack measured his steps to a slow walk, hesitating before finally saying, âno, Iâm not. You?â
Where have you been? || Jack x Bill
âMost of the double ohs are,â Bill nodded. Â âThough 007 seems to take some sort of perverse pleasure in aggravating our quartermaster. Â There is some sort of betting pool on when they are finally going to shag but as Chief of Staff, I have no knowledge of said gambling ring and certainly havenât purchased the entire week around the anniversary of the former Mâs death.â Â He winked at Jack, âShe and 007 were close. He may need comforting.â
With a nod, Tanner pursed his lips, âI could, yes. Â Finish those reports and then we can talk, Mr. Mason.â
He coughed, unsure how to answer that. âErm, Well if no one has next week sir...â
He shook his head and tried to concentrate on getting back to his office. Â None of the doors were numbered on this floor and although he knew it was a measure of security it was still damn annoying.
âOf course sir, right away. Â You know Iâm only trying to get in the field because Iâm eager to start helping in anyway I can.â Â That and he could admit at least to himself that he was starting to feel a bit bored coming into work everyday. Â The change in scenery wasnât much help, after all London hadnât changed that much since heâd been here last.
