TikTok is a fundamentally evil app however the reason i use it is because you occasionally stumble across gems like the Chinese power transformer manufacturer who posts kawaii edits of their power transformers

She is very lonely
April 27, 2025 - Ka Daisy, an NPA guerrilla and trans woman, was martyred after a confrontation with security forces in Barangay Tapi, the Philippines.
She was known for teaching literacy and math to members of her squad who were uneducated and always carrying a make-up kit in her guerilla supplies. May she rest in power. [video]/[video]
"As an LGBT youth our role is important in advancing the revolution. To change society's views we must change society herself"
(thanks internet archive for archiving the video that got deleted by youtube, and thanks @noneedtofearorhope for finding it. also, good to know: "Ka" is a title like comrade, not part of her name).
for further context, the NPA is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, which has been engaged in armed and unarmed, underground and aboveground, struggle against fascist and bourgeois-liberal dictatorships in the Philippines for over 60 years now. though the NPA's presence is mostly limited to rural areas, the CPP and its popular front and youth wings are active all throughout the Philippines.
more than just fighting the state powers, they are actively engaged in improving the conditions of the rural peasantry and the urban workers and semiproletariat (they were involved, for example, in the jeepney drivers strike a year or two ago). the NPA stands for New Peoples' Army, but in certain areas where they either hold power or are living among the peasantry, they're called the "Nice Peoples' Army". they live and work along with the villages they're staying in, and help feed and teach the people
their line on LGBT rights is one of the most advanced out of any communist formation worldwide. they hold that the liberation of gay and trans people cannot be achieved without the liberation of the proletariat and peasantry, and vice versa. they've held this line for a long time - they were fighting for trans people back when most other left-wing parties (such as the RCP, pre-Avakian-cult) held reactionary positions on their role in society. here's an article with more context on gay and trans people in the CPP. (warning for misgendering in the context of a trans person's "former self").
rest in power Ka Daisy and let her acts and words serve the liberation of all people

In 1958, Julie Andrews and the rest of the original Broadway leads opened My Fair Ladyin London's West End. The show, as it had on Broadway, received wide acclaim and played for 2,281 performances at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. In 1959, a second cast recording was made in the then-new stereo process to capture the production's high-fidelity sound.

reblog for easter
just remembered the last therapist i was made to go to to get medication access made me start drawing by hand on paper a âtimeline of my lifeâ and i was supposed to put âimportant eventsâ on the timeline and when i asked why i was doing this she did not answer, but got exasperated and said i could stop. i really dont understand whats wrong with those people. its like theyre in a cult
i know âwhyâ this is a thing, its called âtimeline techniqueâ and the therapist thinks that just showing the client the âfirst time a negative emotion occurredâ will solved âunresolved traumaâ etc and yeah that probably is effective for patients who dont think about anything (most people, which is how most therapy works and why it does not work for most rumination-based personalities), but if you cannot explain TO ME the point of a therapeutic technique and justify why i am doing it, including defending it dialectically from my questions, you dont actually know why youâre doing it either. what youre doing actually is chasing a superiority high from what you hope the patient will do: go into the drawing exercise blindly without questioning, and then have their âaha momentâ when the therapy exercise is completed perfectly without spoilers. and then give the therapist credit for their breakthrough
the sheer professional ineptitude of a person claiming to be a mental health expert spending more than five minutes with ME and thinking my problem is âlimiting personal beliefsâ.

once you notice how the conventional oppressive ideal of The Family pervades every sociological concept including the fictional and hypothetical you really do start to feel a kind of face-peeling anguish about it all
"mothers of this species abandon their young to fend for themselves from birth, and even attack and cannibalise each other regardless of age or relation, how heartless :'(" "females birth and rear the young while males defend the territory, as is the natural order of things" "this fictional alien species with no concept of gender sexuality or social hierarchy as we understand it nevertheless forms familial units comprising of mother, father, and child archetypes" "i spent years worldbuilding my fantasy realm but every culture i invented conforms to nuclear family ideals, except for the totally-not-a-racial-stereotype primitive tribes" "incest is a universal taboo" okay. cool. cool. no that's fine. it's fine. you've paved over so much interesting and valuable sociological discourse we could have had with an unimaginative negatively + punitively reinforced status quo but it's literally fine.
because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.
you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.
don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.
if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.
you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:
how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!
aren't you happy yet?
