I... was a general in the War of [REDACTED]. I worked closely with royalty, and tried my best in every fight I could. That was a hundred years ago. I am a shell of the man I once was.
I was killed in the Battle of [REDACTED]. Before that battle, I was in a bunch of other fights as well. There were so many bodies. I should have gotten used to seeing dead people, but I never truly have. Magic charred the land, leaving it dead and lifeless. Blood coated the ground. Blood coated the slain bodies of my comrades and enemies. I was covered in injuries at the time, too.
It's hard to move on from that. When I died, my head was chopped off in battle. It was painful for a few moments, then it was silence. I was ripped away from my family, and many others in the war did as well. I remember watching them stand around my grave. I tried to talk to them as a ghost, but they never heard me.
I feel bad for leaving them.
