Heres a quickie showing some of my vegetables at the end of spring.

I took a few photos mostly because of the detail of leaves, flowers and the lighting.

I was sat in the garden while many bees happily go about their business.

These are my broad beens with beautiful black and white flowers.

My focus was playing up due to the sun setting so please forgive my fuzzy pics.

It was so cool to just sit next to them and they never seemed bothered I was there.

If like me your finding the food bill is taking too much out of the budget then these simple tips will reduce your costs.

1. Created a varied schedule that everyone likes.

Setting different foods for each meal can bring in more choices. Before I would lok in the fridge to see what we would be eating that night.

2. Less waste of food.

buying for the neals means also the foods are what you need…

Most times in the garden when we see animals we think of the chance of damage and this is not always the case as recently I’ve been sitting there watching the birds that would come in.

They would stroll around the garden eating the bugs and anything they find in the garden which to me is great as it helps me and obviously it helps them.

Here’s some photos I took of the vegetables around the garden.

The plum tree is kicking in well. It came as a dry root plant which makes this a great start. Strawberries below are now in bud. I should cut the flowers off to make stronger plants but I dont think the kids would appreciate that.

The previously attacked dwarf beans are doing well. Luckily I had enough.

It’s Been Great Spring Weather… So Far

Here’s an update from my kitchen garden for May 2018

The weather has improved well if not too well. I have seeds of various crops started early in the mini greenhouse from last month.

Recently the two bag system is working really well. The first bag I created held just lettuce. These have since been transplanted out in the main garden. The second bag I made (currently on the right) has spinach…

And complete with some new surprises.

No Surprises what I should say is that so old Relics which is now resurfaced after about 8 to 10 years full stop.

Tulips and anenomies which had seemed long gone, but for some strange reason decided to start growing it again after such a long time. Maybe it was the great weather that we’ve had recently which is giving them a spirit of life.

This one may look a little leftfield but in theory it should help the structure of the soil more so later.

Soon I shall set in motion plans to setup the layout. As yet I have been looking for inspiration for layouts, bed sizes and how many beds to make. It's been a bit crazy.

But before that I want to condition the soil a bit better. Previously the garden had overgrown flower beds with a lawn getting the most sunshine.

It is only the first week in January and surprisingly there is growth in the kitchen garden. Garlic is putting a spurt on and reaching a few inches already.

What makes this even more amazing is that I went cheap and bought some cloves of garlic from the local supermarket.

I have read before that we should use either organic or an official source such as a seed catalog.
