Paris
Sorry this actually happened before Martis but I forgot to post it! I was in Paris for 2 days and three nights staying at a nice hostel although I had to chang s rooms after he first night because up above me smelled aweful do I upgraded to a all girls room which is a rule for me now haha. Well that was fast! And lovely. I am coming back to Paris ASAP. I would like to get a pass to the leuvres because fun fact it would take 100 days to see every piece of art in the leurves for 30 seconds. Once I heard that I was like challenge accepted. I also never got a chance to sit on a rooftop and look at the Eiffel Tower from a distance so that needs to happen. But I did go in the Eiffel Tower, the view was amazing. Pics to come when I get better wifi. I am grateful I got to go to some things in October because the lines were not long. I also got really lucky with the weather, sun both days! One thing to remember with the metro is that if you exit the station to transfer like e.g. To go to a bathroom or send a postcard of have to pay to get back in. I tried asking if they'd make an exception but the ticket lady parles pas Anglais. I bought a pen in the Eiffel Tower gift shop for ā¬10 because I love it and it's he only souvenir of Paris I got. Lol. I also went to MuseĆ© d'Orsay and saw the impressionist collection which was fabulous. Also ate an entire plate of cheese by myself and the waiter was like "is his all for you?" Lol. Sorry this post is so scattered I'm running out of battery and am starving. Love Rosi
Not a great view but the only one from the wifi square haha Martis, Italy
Martis, Italy
I arrived late Thursday night (13th) and was picked up at Alghero airport by my friend Cristina and her two roommates Giovani (JOE-von-ee) and Caouri. (CA-oo-ree, r is rolled). They have all been so kind and welcoming to me. Cristina is an AMAZING vegan cook and she cooks for everyone every meal, it is blissful.
It is so beautiful here. It is a very small town of just 500 people, so beyond a few houses is endless rolling hills and olive orchards. We are at the north end of the island of Sardinia (Italian: Sardegna). It is probably 25 degrees right now and gorgeous blue skies but I canāt check the temperature because thereās no wifi. The beach is an hour away but we will go the next day Cristina gets the car. In the town there is the ruins of a 700 year old church. It is beautiful and interesting to put some of my art history knowledge into context. Everyone makes their own wine and trades with each other. Depending how long I stay here I might help with picking olives, which Giovani will then drive to the next town to get pressed into olive oil and bottled, which we will then sell, and that is a major source of income for the house. I am hoping to leave with a few bottles but whittled my luggage down to carry on so I can only bring 100mL bottles. They are renovating the kitchen and have asked me to paint something around the wood fire pizza oven so I am thinking of what to paint. Most of our produce comes from a garden that the household takes care of in exchange for half the food grown. Last night we had eggplant in pasta, which I have ever had and I had 3 helpings.
There are countless archaeological sites on Sardegna, a few near to us to walk or short drive. There is one called, āHouse of the Fairiesā because there are many small hobbit-like houses built into the hillside. We will go see that soon. There is also a petrified forest which of course is where trees decay and over time minerals fill up that space and form a tree shaped rock. We learned about that in geology but it was 2 years ago now and Iām afraid to misinform you. Weāll probably see that today as it is sunny out and walking distance. Also a friend of Cristinaās offered to take us mushroom hunting so I am ecstatic about that.
There is no wifi in the house so I have to go to the town square and then I have a limited time and amount of megabytes to use. So donāt expect to hear from me very much.
I have eaten a mandarin, a fig, a pomegranate and a cactus fruit all straight off the tree! In October! The cactus fruit was my favourite, it tasted a lot like a papaya. Nobody seems to get how awesome it is that cacti make edible fruit and that you can just walk about the town and pick them and eat them?? (After removing the spikes!!)
There are 3 adorable and sassy dogs in the house, I will take pictures but I can only upload probably one picture so Iāll show you all when I get back or have better wifi in a week or so. I have quite the slideshow shaping up.
There is a saying in Italian (and Iām positive Iām about to butcher the spelling):
āIl dolce far nula,ā which means, āthe sweetness of doing nothing.ā I honestly think I have done more in a day here than in a week any place else but it feels so effortless. Itās not an endless struggle reading maps and finding metro stations and post offices and restaurants⦠Itās just so relaxed.
Ciao for now!

Wow. #nofilter I saw this from the Eiffel Tower and thought.... I must go there. So I looked it up and sure enough, it was the SacrĆ©-Coeur Basilica. #iloveparis #paris #solotravel #travel #canadiansabroad #insanearchitecture #religionbuildsthings #france #EUROSI (at SacrĆ©-CÅur, Paris)

Berlin
People can - and do - smoke inside bars. How crazy is that?? I am right next to a small park and a train station. Apparently there is this really exclusive club where the bouncers only approve entry to 1 out of 5 people in line. My friend Jerrod has been rejected 3 times and he's literally the coolest person I know. Apparently you have to just look super grunge and like you couldn't care less if you get into this club or not. I have gone to 3 comedy shows and made friends at all of them. One comedian said I was so funny that I should have my own YouTube channel. I think I'm better at improv than stand up because I have a really hard time remembering stuff, and stand up is basically just recalling and reciting a long windy train of thought. It feels good to acknowledge that. Did anyone else take Finding Dory as a life lesson? I saw the Berlin Wall which was beautiful, so many gorgeous paintings, so much depth and meaning. You can really feel the hurt and desire for a better life from the artists. That's what our tour guide said anyway. So Berlin was nice, but I decided to leave and explore the rest of the world in stead of work. Which is sort of funny because I spent solo much time and money learning German and applying for a work visa in which they only grant you one in your life. Lol. #EUROSI Gluten abend!

London in hindsight
Not really sure what even to say. So I figured I would sort of write a travel itinerary/tips for myself if I were to go back in time. Dear Rosi 1. Download the Uber app so you can avoid that Ā£40 cab home to north London. The tubes close EARLY 2. Don't listen to anybody about anything. "Berlin's the most expensive city in Europe" said a friend, "You can get a room for ā¬150 per month" says a German stranger. I honestly don't know who to believe. However I suppose the whole purpose of travelling is to see the world for yourself. So quit bothering asking people, "Oh, how is [insert city]?" Because if you actually credited their opinion any validity or merit at all, you wouldn't need to visit the city. You might as well turn yourself around and read national geographic all day. 3. Book tickets to the Globe theatre in advance. They are not expensive. But they sell out fast. 4. You can drink in public. Pick up a brew at the nearest corner store and swig it on the UH (up high: the opposite of the DL) whilst you meander from bar to bar. This is called a "way beer" because it is consumed on the way. 5. People will think you're American. I don't really know what you're supposed to do with this information because there's nothing you can do about it short of wearing a Team Canada jersey everywhere you go, but thems the brakes. (NO mom and dad, I will NOT be ironing a Canada flag onto my purse). 6. Get an Oyster card mailed to you in advance. The tube will still be bloody expensive though, and if you get out of the terminal to find a goddamn tampon, bathroom, and a chocolate bar as big as your face, you will be charged again when you resume your trip. Honestly. 7. Cafes don't like it when you use their bathroom without buying anything and they sometimes enforce it. Pee whenever you can. 8. Costa coffee makes a good Americano, has bathrooms, and your phone will automatically connect to their wifi after the first time you sign in (if you don't know what I'm talking about, this is INVALUABLE.) 9. Take the by donation Alternative London Walking Tour. 10. Bargain for curry on Brick Lane (there is a string of Indian restaurants side by side and the competition is fierce). 11. Don't drink the wine at City Spice. 12. Consider whether you actually enjoy observing architecture or if staring at a bunch a old blocks of concrete is just something you feel obligated to do. Don't feel obligated, this is your life. 13. Charlotte St. has the best restaurants. Meet your date at the costa at one end and wander along until you both agree on a cuisine. 14. Factor in a Ā£/ā¬18 checked baggage cost when travelling Ryan Air. It may not be the cheapest flight all things considered. And print your ticket in advance to avoid a huge fee. 15. The Charity shops are AWESOME!!! 16. Two words: TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD PAPERCHASE 17. Service is terrible. Count yourself lucky if you get so much as a "good day" out of them. It's not you; it's them. 18. LONDON COCKTAIL CLUB, (location). The bartenders dance, sing, spit fire, throw ice at you, and hit the bar lamps in time with the loud, amazing music. Only open till 12 so get your freak on early. Pre drink heavily, cocktails are Ā£9 each. Sit up at the bar and talk to the bartenders, they're great. 19. Join a gypsy tribe/Druid circle prior to Stonehenge and travel by gypsy bus to the equinox rather than shell out Ā£100 for basically just transit. #EUROSI
More London
First day in London Too tired to really do anything, I think my family might think I'm shy because I was so quiet. Which is probably a relief to them since I'm usually such a whack job. Getting used to automatically converting £ to $. Looking forward to a pub lunch after my walking tour today (we'll see if anyone from the tour wants to join! Second day in London Walking tour was a hack, monuments are for suckers. Actually, I'm kind of angry how many tax dollars are wasted on the royal family. Quite third world. The tour guide was awesome though, and the history was interesting. I didn't make any friends because all the people on the tour were lame. And yes, they were ALL young, English speaking hostel-goers. What??? I legit walked up to the group and introduced myself, and half the people looked up then back down and the other half just shoved their heads as far up into their asses as they could manage, all in complete silence. I'm not exaggerating, no one said anything (Haters). It was shocking and sad to how incredibly lifeless and dull some people are. Like, helloooo, you are literally travelling in LONDON on what I've been told is one of the sunniest days of the year, on a free tour, surrounded by other like minded travellers!!! Wake up people!!! Needless to say, there was no pub lunch with my new friends. Hopefully I make some friends tomorrow! I've got my street art tour booked. Cheerio #EUROSI
