The thing no one tells you about living on a coastal balcony in Vizag
a small rant that turned into actual useful information
okay so we moved into our new flat near Madhurawada six months ago. seventh floor. sea breeze. breathtaking view. i was absolutely in love with the balcony — and then within two weeks i was absolutely terrified of it.
my daughter is three. my cat thinks she's a parkour athlete. the railing is perfectly legal and completely inadequate for either of them. and here's the thing coastal cities don't put in the welcome brochure: it's not just about height. the salt air, the constant wind, the way everything rusts faster than you expect — it changes what "safe" even means up here.
i went down the rabbit hole. looked at iron grills (too heavy, too permanent, too "prison-y" on a facade i actually like). looked at invisible grills (lovely but pricier than i budgeted). kept ending up on balcony safety nets — and honestly? i kept dismissing them because i had this idea in my head that they'd look like construction scaffolding.
they don't. i don't know when i formed that opinion but it was completely wrong.
"the finished install is almost invisible from the street. you just see the balcony. you don't see the net. my neighbour asked if i'd 'done something different' to the balcony and i told her i'd just cleaned it." — actual thing i said to my neighbour last week
here's what actually mattered for our specific situation (coastal high-rise, humid, visible from the outside, definitely being judged aesthetically by the building association):
◆ the mesh material — standard nylon goes brittle and discoloured fast in salty sea air. you want HDPE or Garware-grade polyethylene specifically rated for coastal conditions, not generic construction net
◆ the hardware — the hooks and anchors rust before the net does. SS-316 marine-grade stainless is the non-negotiable for anything facing the bay
◆ the tensioning — badly tensioned nets look like sadness. well tensioned ones disappear into the architecture
◆ the corners — honestly the corners are where amateurs show themselves. a good installer closes corners cleanly. a bad one leaves gaps you immediately notice
we got ours sorted through EverSafe, who cover Vizag and do a proper site visit before quoting. no weird "flat rate per sq ft regardless of your actual balcony" approach — they look at your floor height, corner complexity, and whether your wall structure can handle the anchor load in coastal conditions. the quote made sense because they'd actually looked at the thing they were quoting.
the install itself was maybe half a day. the balcony looks identical to before except my daughter can stand at the edge and look at the sea and i can breathe while she does it. the cat is less pleased but she'll cope.
if you're in the MVP Colony / Rushikonda / Seethammadhara belt and you've been putting this off because you assume it'll look bad or be difficult — genuinely, it's neither. just make sure whoever you use knows coastal materials specifically and doesn't just transplant an inland installation approach to a sea-facing building.
if this is useful
we went through EverSafe's Vizag balcony nets page — it has a good breakdown of what makes coastal installs different and they do free site visits before quoting. not sponsored, just the place that actually knew what they were doing.

Anti-Bird Nets for Homes & Buildings | Eversafe Safety Nets
Birds like pigeons may look harmless, but when they start nesting on balconies, windows, AC outdoor units, and terraces, they can create serious problems. Droppings, feathers, noise, and blocked spaces quickly become a daily headache for homeowners and apartment residents.
That’s where anti-bird nets come in.
At Eversafe Safety Nets, we install high-quality anti-bird nets that protect your home without harming birds. Our nets are strong, durable, and almost invisible, so your balcony stays clean and safe without ruining the look of your building.
Why Do You Need Anti-Bird Nets?
Many people only realize the importance of bird protection after pigeons start nesting. But once they settle, removing them becomes difficult.
Here are some common problems caused by birds:
• Bird droppings damage balcony floors and railings • Pigeons build nests in AC units and windows • Feathers and waste create hygiene issues • Noise and constant disturbance • Risk of infections and allergies
Installing an anti-bird net is the easiest and most effective long-term solution.
How Anti-Bird Nets Work
Anti-bird nets act as a protective barrier that blocks birds from entering balconies, windows, ducts, and open spaces.
The nets are installed using strong hooks and cables, covering the open area without drilling major structures. The result is a safe enclosure that prevents birds from entering while allowing fresh air and sunlight.
The best part is that these nets are bird-friendly. They do not trap or harm birds; they simply prevent them from entering your space.
Benefits of Installing Anti-Bird Nets
1. Clean the balcony. No more bird droppings or messy nests.
2. Health Protection Prevents diseases that can spread through bird waste.
3. Safe for Children and Pets It acts as an additional safety barrier for balconies.
4. Long-Lasting Material UV-stabilized nylon nets last for years without damage.
5. Maintains Building Appearance Transparent and neat installation keeps your balcony looking good.
Where Can Anti-Bird Nets Be Installed?
Anti-bird nets are suitable for many areas, including:
• Apartment balconies • Windows and ventilators • AC outdoor units • Building ducts • Open terraces • Warehouses and factories
Whether it’s a small balcony or a large commercial building, the nets can be customized for any size.

Most installations are completed within a few hours.
How Much Do Anti-Bird Nets Cost?
The price usually depends on:
• Balcony size • Net material quality • Installation complexity
But compared to constant cleaning and maintenance caused by birds, anti-bird nets are a one-time investment that saves time and money.
Tips Before Installing Bird Nets
Before installing anti-bird nets, consider these tips:
• Choose UV-stabilized material for longer life • Make sure the net size is appropriate (commonly 1-inch mesh) • Always get professional installation • Avoid cheap, low-quality nets
Quality installation ensures the net lasts for many years.

Invisible Grills for Modern Homes
Invisible grills are a new safety solution for modern homes. Many apartments use them for balconies, windows, and high floors. They look simple, clean, and almost invisible, but they are very strong.
What Are Invisible Grills?
Invisible grills are thin stainless steel wires fixed in a frame. The wires are usually covered with a protective coating. From far away, they are hard to see, so they do not spoil the beauty of your balcony.
These grills help protect people from falling and stop birds like pigeons from entering the balcony.
Many apartments now prefer invisible grills instead of iron grills because they look modern.
Merits (Advantages) of Invisible Grills
1. Clear View Invisible grills do not block your outside view. You can still see the city, trees, and sky.
2. Modern Look They make your balcony look stylish and neat.
3. Strong and Durable The wires are made from strong stainless steel, so they last for many years.
4. Child Safety Invisible grills help protect children from falling from balconies.
5. Pet Safety Pets like cats and small dogs can stay safe inside the balcony.
6. Bird Protection They stop pigeons and birds from entering and making a mess.
7. Rust Resistant Most invisible grills do not rust easily because of special coating.
Demerits (Disadvantages) of Invisible Grills
1. Higher Cost Invisible grills may cost more than normal iron grills.
2. Professional Installation Needed Experts must install them properly for safety.
3. Not Good for Climbing Children should not try to climb on them because they are thin wires.
4. Maintenance Check Sometimes the wires should be checked to make sure they are tight and strong.
Use Cases of Invisible Grills
Invisible grills are used in many places:
Balcony safety
Window protection
Staircase areas
High-rise apartments
Terrace safety
Office buildings
They are especially popular in cities where many people live in tall buildings.
Installation Process
Installing invisible grills usually takes a few steps.
Step 1 – Measurement Experts measure the balcony or window area.
Step 2 – Frame Installation Aluminum or steel frames are fixed on the top and bottom.
Step 3 – Wire Setup Strong stainless steel wires are stretched between the frames.
Step 4 – Tightening the Wires The wires are tightened to make them strong and safe.
Step 5 – Final Check The team checks everything to make sure the installation is secure.
The full process usually takes a few hours.
Why Many People Choose Invisible Grills
People today want safety without losing beauty. Invisible grills give both.
They protect children, pets, and family members while keeping the balcony open and beautiful.
That is why many modern apartments choose invisible grills.
