I am so fortunate to have met some very talented, fun & sweet ladies that I not only like hanging out with, but love to work with. We have a monthly meeting called 'business development day' where we set up shop at a coffee shop and chat all day about nightmare clients, what we are working on, what we would like to improve, and what we would like to be doing in the future.

Not having co-workers anymore makes me want to build friendships with people that have similar jobs to me, and I feel so grateful and fortunate to have met these women.  After last months business development day, we decided to collaborate on a Christmas idea that I will be unveiling shortly, but for now here is a sneak peek: 

Crisp, bright mornings means Fall is here. I never really appreciated Fall - or seasons for that matter - until I moved to the East Coast from California. Now I make up for lost time by driving my neighbors & husband crazy by spray painting gourds and tiny pumpkins in my backyard and placing all over the house like a Martha Stewart gone bad, and demanding that we go apple picking and other Fall-ish activities every weekend.

I totally overhauled my website this week! A little while ago, I had my friend and super talented photographer, Jamie Lefokwitz  take some pictures of some newer things that I had been working on. Her pictures were exactly what I wanted: sleek, simple and showcasing the work.

I also added a few new sections to the site, including one that I am really excited about, Real Weddings! Occasionally, brides send me pictures of my work in action, which I love, because I usually don't see it again after I walk the package to the post office. Seeing the things I make and design during the big day is amazing, but I just had the pictures sitting in a folder in iPhoto. Now they have a place to be showcased!

Fairly frequently I get asked to do a logo design for a company. Its a request that I love, as figuring out how to take the ethos and mission of a company & translate it into a design is really exciting to me.

Sorry for the recent radio silence....wedding season has nearly gotten the best of me this summer!

I turned 30 & spent an amazing week in Mexico relaxing, eating my weight in guacamole & margaritas, reading books & slathering SPF 100 sunscreen all over my Nordic skin. I felt so grateful to  spend time with my friends and amazing husband & to just relax. 

After doing a styled shoot with some seriously talented industry friends, we were featured in Brooklyn Bride! As this is one of my fave blogs, I was thrilled. 

I also spent a week in Albuquerque, New Mexico attending the IAMPETH conference. This is a week long annual conference for calligraphers, and there are classes and events all week. Even Pat Blair, the White House Calligrapher was there. I feel so fortunate that the calligraphy community is so close and welcoming, I met some amazing friends while there. I can't wait for next years conference! 

Jess Lively was one of the first blogs I started reading when I was tinkering with the idea of opening my own business. I loved her honest writing about owning a business, being newly married and her mission of living and working with intention. Like anyone else, I can easily fall into a vacuum of browsing Pinterest for hours and then wondering why my life is not as flawless as all of the beautifully styled pictures, and feeling overwhelmed with everything there is to do when you are your own boss. Reading Jess' blog helped me realize that I was not alone in some of my negative thinking, and that I could easily focus that energy into my business in different ways, and have a business that could thrive. 

                     Jess has workshops all over the country where you can spend the weekend learning about how to focus your potential into your business. This past weekend, there was a workshop in Austin, and I was lucky enough to work with Jess & her lovely assistant Jen to create a few items for the workshop. Everyone who attended the workshop had a place card, in Jess' signature gold and white, as seen below, and a take home memento of a motto of Jess'; 'Just keep going.'
