genuinely adore that belle is a bluestocking but they didn’t make her a stereotype. she’s not a wallflower hiding behind spectacles and drab gray gowns and utterly unable to speak up for herself. she’s not the type who’s never spoken to a man and can’t even conceive of marriage and romance. she’s bright and lively. she wears gorgeous, colorful gowns. she’s viewed as desirable, she partakes in ballroom dancing and knows poetry. she speaks her mind and fights for what she believes in. she never cowers from a man. she is romantic and knowledgeable and i just love that we got to embrace femininity with a book smart and strong character like belle.

romance is finding someone with matching passion and intensity, leaning in for the first kiss over a pottery wheel, getting caught, neck snapping, trusting an old man to hide the body in exchange for forgery talents, joining a gang of criminals led by said old man, being exceedingly good at scams and schemes and thinking it’s all so fun and silly

yeah yeah yeah as much as i need belle and jack to prevail and end up together against all odds i think i need my girl fanny to find happiness even more
