I honestly love this design, not only is this building in my opinion a work of art, with an extremely modern, cool, and nature focused design, I feel that this addresses and helps to combat one of the world’s major issues, and I love that most of all. This is art to me not only because someone designed it, and it has a message, but because it innovates what kinds of messages, architecture can send as an artform, and what art as a whole is capable of. If people follow through with this building’s purpose of not only sending a message. But also working to combat the major issue it’s creating a dialogue about, directly, then we can see art shift from something that makes you think, into, something that acts directly against the very thing it hates. And this is a shift that’s been going on for awhile now, thinking back to a something like We Are The World, where at least dozen popular musicians of 2010 came together to create a dialogue about the earthquakes in Haiti, and before that in the 80’s they did the same thing, but instead they talked about world hunger. In their wake they left relief programs, and non profit organizations to combat a hefty amount of the monetary funds required to begin repairs, or find any direct solution. Just think of We Are The World, but 10 fold. Imagine this building, or something very similar to it being the primary design for apartment buildings all around the world. Movies and plays that are 100% recycled. Modern art museums that send ticket prices to shelters, and non-profits focused on attempting to help the homeless find jobs and long term housing. This one building means so much more for art in general and what it can do to help solve issues we face in modern society.

Wow! when I first saw the image of the building I thought about someone sliding down the side Fred Flintstone style but that was just my inner child talking. You put much more thought into your comment. You speak about about how this shows a trend of changing architecture to an all around more expressive art form. Do you think this is a positive change? Do you think that such a change would affect practicality?

Cinema is an artform I got more into later in life, just because they didn’t hold my attention as much as they needed to when I was a kid. However later on in life not only did they interest me with flashy effects and cool stories, but movies, and the marvel movies in particular, interested me because they were movies that brought me closer to my family and gave me a whole lot of new friends. In my own personal opinion this is where good art really steps up a new level. Whether it’s a connection between the world and the story, or between people and the story, or from people to people. This is one of the more important aspects of art that I had missed out on until I got into the marvel cinematic universe, and got the chance to really experience good cinematic art.

That you mention connections adds a great deal to the rest of what you said. No one could have predicted the global phenomenon that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact they hold 4 of the top top ten grossing movies of all time. The fact that most people you meet will have seen at least one is amazing. 2 people that have never met could talk for hours on this subject. Do you think this was what the author was getting at? a sense of Family?

I have played video games for as long as I can remember, my earliest memories coming from my dad and I sitting down and playing games together on our living room couch, and ever since I’ve been in love with video games. In most recent years I’ve been finding myself in more and more enthralled by the stories that video games tell, creating an extremely unique perspective where the audience is not only the one who’s hearing the story but also the one who tells the story. Making the audience also a vessel for the story, one that is completely autonomous and able to interact with the world on his own and uncover the story at their own pace. This in my opinion gives video games a unique stance as an artform engaging an audience that no other form can capture and utilize to it’s full potential, even leading to the eventual copy of the idea of interactivity in films, such as in the netflix original, Bandersnatch. This is an interactive episode of a show called black mirror, where you assume the role of, ironically, a game designer who is working on an interactive adventure game, with branching paths and multiple ending, where a long the way we get to see make choices, about what cassette to listen to on the way to school, or what to eat for breakfast. In a way not only is the show meant to mirror the game that the protagonist is designing, but it’s also supposed to mirror how an interactive game is played, never forcing you down a path, with there always being an ending for your choices, never forcing you to make a specific decision but have better ending for going farther and making smarter and better decisions.

I too am a big fan of video games. I’ve never heard of this show but based on the description you gave it sounds like something that I’d like so i’ll be sure to check it out. I wonder though what the author is trying to convey to the audience. I know some action, adventure and fantasy films have a message that is often harder to find but I’m sure there must be one.

In these ten images u will see a famous painting or statue and it’s photoshop counterpart. Each photoshopped image was modified to look like a more realistic person which includes color, shading and some reworking of lines. Because these original works of art were realistic but not very detailed; it gave it a mystical sense. I believe the author is trying to humanize these figures to show everyone that these works of art were also just people. People that lead real lives.

I knew as soon as I saw this painting that I had to reboot it. It reminds me of my favorite Halloween movie from when I was a little kid, The Nightmare Before Christmas. In the Movie the main Villin as the Boogie Man. He has three child Henchmen that are dressed as trick or treaters but are in reality Demons. This makes me thinking the little demons of children I’d often see on Halloween, they are are in the form of children but they have come only to trick or treat and if no treat is presented then a trick will be played. I believe the author is explaining this through this image.

This painting showcases an event that no longer happens on today’s Navy ships, a boxing match put on to raise Morale of Officers and Seamen before long deployments. Its such an odd event and maybe the author knows that, and maybe they are painting this picture so other people will be able to see this in the future. The feeling that comes off of this painting is a tense relief, everyone is taking a break from their usually stressful job to sit back and enjoy a bit of sport while the two boxers and staring each other down waiting for the other to make the first move.

This Image is incredible in the sense that it is almost as if it were a photograph. It is so well done that brush marks are invisible for the most part. The Artist was trying to convey the feeling of this day, foggy, calm and cold. If you are ever alone in the woods on a day like this you feel like you are the only person in the world. The fog makes you question the entire world outside of it, like the feeling that you forgot something you just found, you say now I know that there are cites and giant skyscrapers but I don’t see any here so maybe I just remembered wrong and they don’t exist.

I really enjoy these paintings by “pan pan”, my favorite would have to be the last one because it looks almost imperial with the gold around its head and antennas in a sort of crown shape. Because each painting captures a different human hybrid the painter was able to use each humanoid with a different personality based on their different insect/animal/plant. The Praying Mantis gives off a sinister vibe, almost like this being is scheming something. I love the almost world building affect that the group of them all give off together. I’d love to see a cinematic universe of all these characters and how they interact. Stylistically It makes me think of the Disney movie Epic mixed with a little GOT.
