This lamp that I designed fabricated was the culmination of many ideas that ultimately took on its own life and became sculpted out of marble and 3/8" thick brass. Â Inside the brass cylinder is a deconstructed 50mm camera lens that focuses each facet of the halogen light bulb that sits inside of it-- giving it a feathered effect that is meant to bounce off of an inverted "disco ball" the whole concept stemming from the reversal of the beauty I see in the sun light as it filtered through the trees and dapples on the ground. So the lamp is in homage to the sun and Mother Earth giving it is effeminate nature and purity of material. Â
It took me 3 days straight to finish it to the point where one of my best friends jeff said I have to take you home... As he was right... Because at that point I was truly hallucinating... An effect I rather enjoyed but also made me feel very vulnerable... And thank him for not only being there for me but knowing enough to take me home.
It is experiences like these that I find make me feel something, feel that something that means... Yes I am here for some sort of reason... And fuck yes i love being here in weird little body... And it does not have to be through carving marble (knew in the back of my head how hard that was.... But did not truly know until it showed me) it can be through anything that pushes you to fall in love... Pushes you to create... And my hope through sharing these experiences it inspires more people to say hey yeah i can carve marble... i guess.Â
All the video was taken by me with a gopro and edited in iMovie, the soundtrack I wrote on guitar and was edited in logic. The tuning of the guitar is DADGAD there is some slide and about three tracks over laid.
