âOh, yes, thatâs rightâ she nodded, glad that she coud focus on something else for a moment. âMumâs also excited. Finally one of us decided to become a healer⌠she was hoping for Caroline or Charlie, but they both turned out to be something completely different. I mean, Iâm pretty sure Caroline would faint at the sight of bloodâ she admitted.
Marlene shrugged, offering him a small smile. âItâs the price to pay, I would rather be helpful than sleeping all dayâ she said. âNow that I know whatâs happening, itâs hard to take a breakâ she explained.
âParents do seem to like it when their children take after them. Hows your dad feel about you and your brotherâs becoming lawmen?â He asked. His own father wasnât too pleased that neither of his sons had any interest in becoming lawyers, but there was nothing that Evan could do about it. He didnât mind working in the courts as a file clerk, but he couldnât imagine being a lawyer.Â
âNo one said anything about sleeping all day. Just a couple more hours. Five isnât really enough.â He countered, though he knew there was no way sheâd concede. Marlene rarely conceded anything. He nodded, âIt is getting worse.â He looked down at his watch so he could avert his gaze and then ran a hand through his hair.Â
