And like, what I don't get it, why does it matter to them what non-Christians do? If they think having an abortion means you go to hell or whatever, it doesn't mean THEY go to hell. And if you don't believe in hell, then the consequence is irrelevant, and they can think you're going to hell all they want and it literally doesn't matter.

And like, that's how you know it has nothing to do with their actual faith and everything to do with control. Muslims don't care if non-Muslims eat pork and drink alcohol, so why do Christians care what non-Christians do, unless their actually motivated by Christian nationalism and not by Christian faith.

(Note: I'm obviously looking at this from a western perspective, and that countries with different dominant religions have different dynamics.)

this? imposing their religion as the law on everybody whether they believe or not? is exactly what they moral panic about saying Muslims are going to impose “sharia law.” but Muslims don’t really want to do it, and right-wing Christians do. everything conservatives worry about is always projection.

When work is less crazy I want to make a post about the Seven Mountain Mandate, which is a conservative Christian movement to create a theocracy in the US, and it's gaining steam in 2021. It's rooted in Christian Dominion theology, which started in the 1970s, and they want to have Christian nationalists controlling 7 spheres of influence (the 7 "mountains"), education, religion, family, business, government/military, arts & entertainment, and media.

And it's not just a fringe movement. They're all embedded in QAnon, and the kind of lead "prophet", Johnny Enlow, has a big following. It's kinda scary tbh.

These people believe trump is secretly still president because modern prophets tell them that God said he is, and that Joe Biden is possessed by a serpent demon and that Barack Obama is the anti-Christ because apparently if you read the Hebrew text of the New Testiment, it says the devil appeared as "byrock obam" or some shit, even though the new Testiment wasn't even written in Hebrew in the first place, and there's ample resources available translating the original Greek and it says nothing even close to that.

They are Bible literalists who are not grounded in reality, so they don't care about history, unless it comes straight out of the Bible itself. And what's most scary is that there are people in positions of power who believe this.
