it was interesting how everything seemed to be settling into place. slowly, piece by piece, but jueun could see the vision coming through. especially now that they were being dressed into what looked like a group outfit, jueun definitely couldn't hide her excitement.
out of everything they've done so far, the photoshoots were definitely when she felt mostly in her zone. again, she was so used to posing in front of a camera that she didn't feel the need to be nervous during such test shots.
"okay, i think we look extra cool all dressed up like this," she said with a squeal, turning over to face eunae. "we're looking more and more like a group!" stretching her arms out so one of the stylists could get her into her jacket, she couldn't hide another laugh from escaping her lips. "i can't imagine what the music will sound like if this is the concept they're building for us."
"they did well with the outfits," eunae remarks, looking down at her own get-up. " we match, but subtly. you know? there's a piece of each outfit that makes it look uniquely ours - we're not all wearing the exact same thing," she says, eyes wandering around the room to take in everyone's outfits.
"they're really amping everything up. it seems like they've invested a lot in us," she muses. "which is a good thing, right?" eunae lets out a soft laugh. "the gold-toned theme of the photoshoot makes me feel a bit rich as well," she follows her sentence up with another laugh. "i'll be even more excited when we move on from photoshoots, though. there's still the music video filming, choreography, and even the song. i can't wait to hear the demo! i wonder what's in store for us."

”i hate to disappoint you,” eunae says, biting her lip. “but no, not really. i watched, um . . .” she trails off, scratching her head. “what was it called? avengers? but that was a couple of years ago. i know, i know, they’re not the same.” knowing how some superhero and comic fans can get, she defends herself, ready for ara to sass her anyways.
“i’m struggling to decide whether i want this character to be like me or completely different.” she frowns, contemplating her options. “i’m not sure how much this lore will tie into our group’s concept, or if it will be forgotten years down the line,” she says, referencing what happened to a certain boy group from years past. “it’s obviously easier to start with what you know, right? maybe evolve later on? once we have all the details from the coaches, maybe i’ll get a better grasp of the concept later. i want to participate as much as i can!” eunae exclaims, fire re-lit in her eyes.
“maybe we should spar together tomorrow? how does that sound,” there’s an evil smile spreading across her face as she looks at ara.
"i think we might have to spend a few hours watching a movie tonight instead of any extra practice at this rate to give you some inspiration. like come on. winx club?!" ara winces, not the best example. "powerpuff girls!" those girls were trending, even nabbing a cosmetic collaboration with peripera a few years back... "
"i personally don't know if i have the most exciting personality. so for me, i think something different would be nice." she smiles at eunae, stretching her arms in thought. "oh... i mean it does happen a lot where the original debut concept fades into the very far background. yknow the whole cringe debut thing that everyone hopes in their senior years doesn't exist anymore. so maybe in that aspect, whatever we do, make it something we do not regret." the more power to whoever wants to be some firebreather over a teleporter, or telepathic person...
"you're on. i've got moves in my head that i will perfect.. overnight, clearly." ara does the movement with her palm that basically all but says bring it on, laughing.
"powerpuff girls?" she raises an eyebrow. "you're going in a different direction than i was. here i was thinking we were going for some dark superhero concept," eunae says with a laugh. "like, which one of us is the hulk of the group?" she laughs again, shaking her head. "there's lots of ways to interpret this, i guess."
"hopefully we won't look back on this moment and think to ourselves, 'yikes! i wish we didn't do that,' but i think it happens to every group to some extent," she muses. "if we approach this with confidence, at least our aura will carry us through it, right?"
"oh yeah?" she laughs at ara's movements. "i can't wait to take you on," eunae grins.
as is always the case with waterbomb, eunae happens to lose her friends to the crowd. at some point, going with a certain group of people just feels useless. the trainee has learned that getting lost or separated at the festival is just the norm.
turns out that soaking water through your skin isn't exactly the best way to stay hydrated. euane waits in line, impatiently, to grab a cup of overpriced, mediocre lemonade. as she's fanning herself she notices a familiar face waiting in line in front of her.
eunae taps ria on the shoulder, waiting for her to turn around before speaking. "i didn't know you were coming to waterbomb!"
when it comes to making friends, eunae’s not the greatest. texts messages from her are few and far between considering the trainee’s busy schedule. hangouts? they’re becoming even less frequent as project novus ramps up.
however, she’s not going to miss waterbomb; especially when she knows a good chunk of axis labels other trainees were going to be there as well. she loves a good music festival, even if waterbomb might be a bit less focused on the music and more on . . . other things. regardless, it’s an opportunity to get to know other people, and eunae needs to work on making good first impressions.
she waves to sooyoung when she spots her in the crowd, a small group of trainees had gotten together and decided to come to the event together. it’s not long before everyone had split up to see different stages or just gotten lost.
“i can’t remember, is this your first time at waterbomb? either way, are you having a good time so far?” she strikes up a conversation as soon as she’s in earshot.
she doesn’t spot eunae right away— not until the girl’s already waving, already making her way through the crowd. sooyoung startles slightly, blinking once before the warmth registers. she returns the wave with a small, sheepish smile, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear that had already plastered itself to her temple. it’s hot, she’s sticky, and her hair’s definitely lost the war with gravity and humidity, but she’s still glad to see a familiar face.
“not my first, actually,” sooyoung says, brushing a few soaked strands away from her eyes, trying to look unfazed even though someone just pelted her square in the back five minutes ago. “i came last year too. got absolutely annihilated by water balloons. so i came better prepared this time.”
she lifts her weapon of choice—a water gun that looks more ornamental than threatening—with a little flourish.
“i forgot how intense it gets though. the moment you drop your guard, some stranger with a hose appears like they sensed weakness in the force.”
she takes a sip of her slushie, now basically juice, and hums contentedly. “still worth it. there’s something really healing about screaming your favorite song while soaking wet in 90 degree weather.”
she flashes eunae a sideways grin. “you look like you’ve got good instincts though. veteran waterbomber or just naturally slippery?” and, lowering her voice just a bit, as if sharing war intel: “also. warning. there’s a dude with two water guns lurking by the churros stand. no mercy in his eyes. if we team up, we might survive.”
”ah, same,” she nods her head, remembering how she was absolutely drenched by the end of her first day. “i know better now, but honestly,” a grin crosses eunae’s face. “with it being so hot the water is sometimes refreshing. that’s not an invitation to shoot me, though,” she frowns, brows furrowing as she watches sooyoung lift her water gun up. she finishes her sentence off with a laugh, indicating that she’s joking.
mostly.
she leans in as sooyoung shares a piece of advice, eyes instinctively glancing around to see if she can find the suspect in question. “got it - beware of the menace by the churro stand. my stomach’s been growling for the past half hour,” eunae sighs, looking down. “want to try to traverse into enemy territory with me?” she grins, lifting her water gun up, ready to fire.

preparing for this upcoming evaluation has proved to be one of the harder tasks sr media has given the group. she wants to know how the others are fairing. are they also struggling with writers block? eunae knows she’s not the only creative one in the group.
“so, tell me,” eunae sighs, looking up at ara from her notepad. “what are some of your ideas? i’m in need of an inspiration burst.” the pianist furrows her brows, eyes looking back down at her scribbles. this task has proved harder than she expected.
“honestly, maybe the martial arts classes tomorrow will do me some good. i can let out some steam and maybe get over some of this creative block,” eunae laughs. “how have you been liking those? i’ve been enjoying the workout, even if it is a bit intense.”
"this is giving very... airbender. or xmen? i love this stuff!" how to relate it to her persona, she wasn't sure yet, but ara had a lot of ideas milling around in her head. maybe too many. "come on, you've watched some of those cartoons or read some of the comics when you were younger right? please say yes," ara blinks with an expression towards eunae that could only be described as pleading.
"at least, do you have an idea of what kind of vibe you want to give off? go off an idea first, like... oh, elegant. glamorous. or... tough, kick-ass, rough and tumble type of girl, and then incorporate the type of accessory or talent you want in tandem, yea?" her brain map was a mental pinterest board right now playing ping-pong with all the possibilities. endless!
"it's fun.... my body isn't quite used to those workouts so it's different from dance, and i genuinely love it." she rubs at her calf. "but its honestly going hand in hand with everything, and it seems like things are coming together, in a way."

"hm," she frowns. "a favorite part?" the pianist pauses, thinking. "the chorus? maybe?" eunae laughs as her words come out sounding like a question, like she's not sure. "i think the chorus is the most memorable. honestly, i'm not sure if i have one," she tells
him honestly.
"an early riser. i'm the same way," she nods, knowing that she too was already waking up early prior to being scouted by sr media. "although i think before becoming a trainee i was at least getting more sleep," eunae laughs. "it's tough now, tougher for you i'm sure?"
as the tone of the conversation shifts to a bit more serious topic, eunae leans back in her chair, pensive.
"training and promoting sure do take up a lot of time," she tells him, frowning. "when does your promotion cycle end? surely you'll have a break then, right?"
“the chorus is addicting” noel nods “i honestly haven’t met the songwriters of the song, but i’d like to thank them in person some time, they created a really good song that fit the group” noel nods. noel is quite happy he likes the songs vybe has released so far, it’s much more fun performing a song you would actually listen to yourself, though, by now, noel has listened to ‘hello’ for what feels like a million times, he almost had to remove it from his playlist.
“mhmm” he nods “i’ve always needed to wake up early, whether it was for work or school, now i’m just waking up early for something else” he shrugs. “dancing this much tires my body, and i do often feel like i need more sleep, but i luckily have no trouble falling asleep, but it’s gotten a bit harder to wake up in the morning”.
“not sure” he shakes his head “even when promotions end, we’ll probably have to prepare for a new comeback”. “and as busy as i am, i kind of want to have some solo schedules, but i also wouldn’t mind some more schedules along my members”.
”that’s true. you’ll have to focus on what’s coming next,” eunae says with a frown. training already takes most, if not all, the hours in the day. she’s even one of the more studious ones, coming in on weekends or when she has free time to make use of the studio and axis labels top notch equipment. it’s consumed her life, social hour a thing of the past.
“solo schedules?” the pianist inquires. “like what? any plans or . . .” eunae trails off, nails tapping on the side of her drink cup. “just something you’re hoping for? hosting, maybe? i feel like that might suit you.”

"what do you think of the superhero concept?" yuji asks one night during their bootcamp. she's tired from the consistent amount of lessons they have them doing-- but even during their rest hours, yuji dedicates to brainstorming concepts and ideas for their characters. "i'm not sure if they're going to move towards like, glorified magical girl heroes or like...avengers or something. power rangers?" yuji lists off, looking more and more troubled with the possibilities. "maybe even fantasy?"
raking a hand through her hair, she busies herself with putting her hair in a ponytail. as she loops her hairtie a few times around-- tightening her ponytail, she thinks back to everything they've went over discussing the concept. it wasn't much, but enough to work with general ideas. "i was trying to think about stage names, but i think i need to figure out a solid character before i start assigning them roles and such." yuji sighs, rubbing at her eye. "did you have a vibe you were going with? a role you really wanted or?"
”do you want my honest opinion?” the younger asks with a sigh. “it’s not . . .” eunae trails off, biting her lip. “my favorite,” she finally lets out. it feels harder now, criticizing their company. what if her opinions get her cut from the lineup? but there’s no one around them right now, no one listening in on their conversation.
“but that’s the thing about being an idol, right?” she quirks a brow. “your ability to adapt, to suit concepts you might not like. it’s your job. the ones who can do it are the ones that succeed. the ones that stand out.”
“a magical girl concept is a tried and true one,” eunae states, nodding her head. she can sense that yuji is worried about this concept too. “but i worry that would overlap with wonderland, don’t you?” she sighs, shaking her head. “the more we think about it. the more we stress ourselves out. let’s just focus on the task at hand for now.” she gives yuji a gentle, encouraging smile.
“this stuff isn’t my forte,” she says, biting her lip. “but i did some research? it’s not really a superhero or anything but, a bard? maybe? that’s what they’re called in dungeons and dragons, right?” eunae laughs.
as the rp has evolved and grown over the years, so has eunae . . .
i had been thinking about writing a little blurb/headcanon about eunae for a while now and wannabe's THREE YEAR (!!!) anniversary really seemed like the perfect time. i truly cannot believe it's been that long! it feels like just yesterday i joined the rp but clearly that's far from the truth.
while jiayi and hyeran are ( relatively ) new characters, eunae has been here since the beginning - which was ( in my opinion ) a much different place than it is now! the rp has grown and so have we :)
when i first joined with eunae, i had a different vision for her. unfortunately i don't think i ever really fleshed out the character i had imagined her to be and i think over time, she evolved into something else.
initially, i imagined her having somewhat of an icy attitude and hell-bent on being in the spotlight. now, i don't believe that's the case! we can chalk it up to her growing up (she is three years older now) maybe? but either way, i don't think that part of her personality fits what i envision/see as shin eunae.
shin eunae is a competitive, fiery spirit. she believes she's the best of the best and has the skills to back it up! is her ego a little enlarged? yes. while she's confident, she's not afraid to admit where her flaws lie and is always working hard and constantly pushing herself to be better.
another half(?) ret-con is the storyline of eunae's parents. at first, i wanted her parents to be vehemently against her training/becoming an idol. even eunae herself was extremely hesitant. i think even through the solos i wrote, her parents were never fully against the idea, just worried for their daughter <3
eunae's parents are both classical musicians who believed their daughter would follow along in their footsteps. eunae, even though she did as she was told, has always wanted more. a die-hard nana fan, she'd always wondered what it'd be like to be an idol, but it wasn't something she ever thought she'd pursue.
when she first performed at the greenplugged festival three years ago, she never thought that performance would amount to anything. it was simply an opportunity for eunae to show off. after someone reached out to her about auditioning for sr media, that's when the gears really started turning. studying voice and piano in university, eunae thought she would eventually go on to join the seoul orchestra like her parents or become a vocal coach or instructor. after being approached by a representative and passing her audition she thought: 'wait, maybe i can be an idol.'
at first eunae was hesitant, only agreeing to become a trainee because, well, why not? there was nothing to lose, not really. if it didn't work out she always had a plan A.
after a while, debut became plan A.
there are a lot of nuances to eunae, to any character, really. i've always been a big enjoyer of developing your muse throughout the years as well. honestly, the point of this was mostly for me to figure out who eunae really is since i've been struggling with her character for a bit. i think these tiny bits of adjustments (especially getting them typed out instead of in my head) will do me well moving forward!
if you've made it this far, happy anniversary wannabe! i'm so so happy to be a part of this community <3
”i did!” she tells him cheerfully. of course eunae would do her homework - it’d be rude to invite noel out to pick his brain about something she didn’t know about. “hello, hello, hello~” she sings part of the chorus of vybe’s debut song. “it’s a nice way to make your public appearance. it’s like you’re saying hello to the public, right? introducing yourself,” she muses.
“thanks for making some time to see me,” she tells him genuinely, knowing that it was her persistence that got her here. “i’ve just been . . . really curious about it all, you know?” eunae tilts her head, confessing what she wanted to get to know from noel. she can’t say too much, though, even though she wants to scream from the rooftop that it’ll be her turn next.
her turn next hopefully.
“what’s the worst part? waking up at like 3am to go to the beauty shops before a performance?” eunae laughs before taking a sip of her own drink, letting noel have the floor to talk freely.
“ah, i’m happy you listened!” a lot of people had sent texts that they listened to vybe’s debut, and every single text managed to make noel smile, he didn’t expect everyone around him to be so supportive. “do you have a favourite part of the song?” noel is of course hoping she’ll say his part caught her attention the most. “ah yeah, i guess you could put it like that” he nods “saying hello to the world with our debut”.
“thank you too, for making time to see me” he smiles to the other, forgetting she can’t really see it as he’s wearing a facemask. “ah i get that, a lot of people have been curious about it all” he shrugs “i don’t mind it though, i find it fun to talk about, so if you have any questions you’re free to shoot them my way”.
“i don’t mind waking up early, i already did that before becoming an idol, and i really like having my make up done by others but hmm” he sips on his drink before continuing “i think the hardest part is how little time i have to see friends and family, don’t get me wrong, i love my members, i just… want to see other people too?”.
"hm," she frowns. "a favorite part?" the pianist pauses, thinking. "the chorus? maybe?" eunae laughs as her words come out sounding like a question, like she's not sure. "i think the chorus is the most memorable. honestly, i'm not sure if i have one," she tells him honestly.

━━ sr media workshop ◞ let me take a selfie .· ( @arabe )
taking selfies wasn't something that eunae had ever really been interested in. her social media profiles are private, she's never chased fame. even though she's a very beautiful girl, it's safe to say that her selfie skills are well, sub-par at best.
"you know, i actually feel like i'm learning a lot," she tells ara with a grain spreading across her face. "i don't normally take selfies, i like it better when other people take pictures of me," eunae laughs, bringing her phone up and angling it so both of them are in frame. "shall we take one together?" she asks, wiggling her brows.
"i always take pictures from the same angle, to be honest..." her cheek dimples as she purses, flipping through the selcas on her phone, a bit dismayed. "every single picture looks the same... which should change after this session..." ara says slowly, as she moves closer in to eunae and her camera's line of view. "oh no, i think i need to be on your other side," and she moves to sit down on eunae's right side. "not to be dramatic or anything."
she looks over at eunae and they exchange a look, before she bursts out laughing. "tell me you also have a 'good side' or 'bad side', or even better, that you don't. see? i seriously take all my photos in this one angle, from this side! take a look," showing eunae her photo album as proof of her embarrassing history. "we're all going to have to either get good at posing with both sides or seriously, figure out the best way we can take photos together."
”hm,” eunae hums, frowning. “can i be honest? i’m not much of a selfie girl,” she lets out a huff of air. “i’ll tell you a secret.” she leans in, whispering. “this is probably my hardest workshop yet.” after a fit of laughter, the pianist re-adjusts herself.
“i’m sure idols have good sides and bad sides,” she muses. “there’s formations for a reason! plus,” eunae says, bringing the phone back up again, adjusting her hair this time. “if you dig deep enough, i’m sure you’ll see that even they have a preferred side.”
“now say cheese!” she smiles as she snaps a few photos. “there. shall we go through them?” eunae tilts her head up towards ara.

taking selfies wasn't something that eunae had ever really been interested in. her social media profiles are private, she's never chased fame. even though she's a very beautiful girl, it's safe to say that her selfie skills are well, sub-par at best.
"i know right?" eunae tilts her head slightly as she speaks. "honestly, the reviews were maybe a little too high," she bites her lip, wondering if the restaurant had paid for them. "i'm hoping that the food is as amazing as it sounds, but a bit worried at the same time? i've always heard to stay away from restaurants with large menus. it means they don't have a specialty."
"but maybe that means everything is good?" eunae laughs, realizing she's being a bit too pessimistic. "hopefully everything will be good."
"pasta is a safe choice, but what if it's too safe of a choice," she chews on her lip, eyes roaming the menu again. eunae groans, slamming the book shut. "okay, i've made up my mind," she looks at ria, determined. "i've spent too long looking at it. if i keep staring, everything will just blend together and i won't be satisfied either way. i'm going to get the rosé pasta with a side salad," she nods her head, locking in her choice.
"what about you?"
“the reviews were so high and good” she nods her head “part of me questions if they made the reviews themselves or something… the reviews were unusually good” she shrugs. “but i might just be overthinking, and the food really is that good” ria looks around again, and she hasn’t seen nor heard about anyone complaining about their food, perhaps it really is that good? “ah… i’ve never heard that before, but thinking about, it does make sense… the less dishes the more effort they put into the few dishes?”.
ria looks over the menú again, she swears she usually isn’t this indecisive, why is she struggling so much today? she bites her lip so hard it almost bleeds before she looks up at eunae again. “you’re going with the pasta?” pasta is the safe choice, ria is pretty sure it’s hard to mess that up. she looks back at the menu as a sigh escapes her lips, trailing her fingers over the words before finally deciding. she looks up at eunae with a smile “i’ll be going with the naengmyeon, it’s one of my favourite dishes and i’m curious how they’ll make it here”.
"i've heard a lot of places can buy reviews," she mentions. "they either buy fake reviews from some kind of website, the same way that social media influencers do, or they exchange free food for good reviews," eunae sighs, wondering whether or not they fell for a scam.
"but we're being too harsh, right? the food will be edible I'm sure. will it be the best food ever?" the trainee shrugs. "that's what i'm not confident about."
"is it?" her head tilts. "i like naengmyeon too, but i wouldn't say it's my favorite," eunae hums. "maybe i just haven't tried the right one yet!"
as she finishes her sentence, their water comes to take their order.
"i'll have the vodka sauce pasta please," she tells them, pointing specifically to item on the menu. "with chicken," eunae clarifies. then, she looks expectantly to ria, waiting for the other to place her order as well.
