wyatt was born and raised in new york city. his parents were both white collar employees spending most of their days at work and leaving wyatt to be raised by his nanny.  once he turned 18, wyatt joined the navy to get away from his parents and never looked back. only speaking to his nanny, who had raised him from the age of 5 to 17, who he always considered his mother. while wyatt was working for the navy, he decided to take some classes and that’s when he realized he was interested in becoming a lawyer. always dealing with the hot debates that came up on the ship. once he was done, he decided not to re-enlist after 8 years and went to law school. (he completed his undergrad while in the navy)  it was in navy, that he met his wife emily. right from the start they had an adventurous relationship and went through many hardships, but they were able to work through it and got married after wyatt graduated from law school and passed the bar exam. wyatt knew he loved emily from the minute he saw her. normally, he was quite the ladies man and didn’t care to have a family - but emily changed that for him. when they learned they were expecting, wyatt knew he was going to be the best father that he could, considering he didn’t have one growing up. then his daughter iris was born and they couldn’t have been happier with their new bundle of joy. that was until one night wyatt and emily got into a fight over the fact emily wanted to re-enlist in the navy and wyatt was heavily against it, since he was worried about what could happen and they had a daughter now. emily ended up taking a drive, wyatt worried about her when she didn’t come home - until police showed up at his door telling him their had been an accident. emily was involved in a car crash, when someone had ran a red light. she was currently at the hospital - but when wyatt got there it was too late. the doctors told him she didn’t have any brain activity and she was gone. wyatt decided to take her off life support after saying their goodbyes and bringing their daughter to see her one last time. 

life in castleport as an adult

wyatt reluctantly moved to castleport, to be closer to his wife’s family after she passed away. his daughter still being a newborn, he needed all the help he could get even though moving near his emily ( his wife’s) family was the last place he wanted to be. they blamed him for her death, the reason being they had gotten in a fight before she left the house that night and she was hit by a drunk driver who ran a red light. wyatt already blames himself enough for this and didn’t need anybody else throwing the blame at him. wyatt convinced his best friend to also move to castleport and they opened their law firm after they both got settled in castleport.  wyatt loves his daughter more than anything and would do anything to protect her. making sure he’s home by dinner every night and reading her bedtime stories until she falls asleep. iris is his whole world and nobody else matters to him, which is why he hasn’t been in a serious relationship since his wife died. sure, he’s had hookups but they’ve all been meaningless except for the sex.

audrey grew up in seattle, with her parents and younger sister. she always knew that she wanted to have a big family when she grew up, wishing she had more brothers and sisters to play with when she was younger. so when she was in high school, she found her calling and knew she wanted to be an OBGYN, help other women become mothers. 

audrey’s best friend growing up was kayla and they were as close as could be. she had a little brother, who was always around them and audrey didn’t think much of it until they were teenager and there was always something between them. flirting with each other, but neither acted on it knowing that it would’ve been complicated. then audrey moved away for college and never saw him again, unless he was at kayla’s for a party. she and kayla keep in touch on a regular basis talking about their families and how much they miss each other. 

the brunette left her hometown for college and never really went back, unless it was to visit her parents or sister. when she was in medical school, she met jackson who she fell head over heels in love with. it was different from her high school boyfriends or the few flings she had in college. something was different about him, he was so smitten with her and she knew that she was going to marry him one day. 

after they were both done with medical school, jackson proposed to audrey and she couldn’t have been happier but they both decided to wait until they were done with their residencies to get married. but a few years later, audrey ended up pregnant and they decided to put the wedding on hold again. a few months later, they welcomed a baby boy named theodore, who they call theo for short. audrey was head over heels, that she had the family she had always wanted growing up. but that was cut short a few months after theo was born.jackson was transporting a patient via helicopter to their hospital, when their helicopter malfunctioned and crashed into the woods. there were no survivors and audrey was left without her fiance and her son without a father. 

audrey couldn’t move back to seattle and she had no idea where to go, knowing she couldn’t stay in the house with all the memories of jackson, so she decided to move to castleport after her best friend moved there a few years prior and was always speaking about the town.

elena penelope sloan was born in new york city on march 4th 1977 to people who really weren’t ever meant to be parents. her father had an affair with her mother which ended up ruining his marriage, which didn’t bode well for either of them. her mother was cold and callous while the young girl was growing up and was never really much of a mother figure. her father really wanted nothing to do with having another child, but tried what was his best at being a father. living with her mother got worse as she got older and she moved out as soon as she could. when she was a teenager, elena knew that she really wasn’t wanted at home so she spent most nights at her girlfriend’s kate’s house.

senior year of high school elena and her girlfriend kate got hit by a drunk driver. elena ended up with a broken leg and arm, but kate wasn’t so lucky. by the time the firefighters and paramedics had gotten her out of the car and to the hospital they found a bleed in her brain. they rushed her into surgery, but in the end the bleed was too much and she ended up stroking out on the table. between the car accident, losing the one person who cared about her elena had a hard time finishing her senior year. she had nightmares reliving the crash, extreme anxiety while trying to get in the car and drive to school or anywhere. she started seeing a therapist who helped her get through everyday and learn that what she was feeling was normal.

sawyer’s parent divorced when she was only five years old, leaving her living with her mother full time and visiting her father every other weekend and during school holidays. it wasn’t until sawyer’s mother died of cancer when she was 14 that she went to live with her father full-time and a step-mother who she despised. sawyer deep down loved her father, but always resented him for leaving her mother and starting another family. growing up sawyer always looked out for her younger sister’s and never took her anger and sadness out on them, even though she was quite jealous of them at certain points. during her teenage years, it was her best friend turned boyfriend everett who kept her grounded after her mother died. she still to this day doesn’t know what she would’ve done without him. 

life in castleport as an adult

sawyer and everett moved to castleport a few months after they got married. it’s where they adopted their dog brody from the local shelter and bought their first together. sawyer couldn’t have been happier once they moved to castleport and she got a job at the hospital, while everett ran his garage fixing everybody’s cars who lived in the small town. everything was going well for the couple, until a few years after they were married and sawyer was finally done with her residency, they decided they wanted to start a family. they were so happy and decorate a nursery right away but after a few months of trying and nothing happening, they both went to get checked out by the doctor and learned it would be almost nearly impossible for them to get pregnant. this made a big dent in their relationship, sawyer and everett slowly growing apart because of the fact they couldn’t have children. even though sawyer told her husband it didn’t matter to her, he felt horrible and asked for a divorce, which BROKE sawyer’s heart. even though she didn’t want the divorce, she knew it’s what he wanted and she couldn’t say no. they ended up getting divorced, sawyer moving out of their house not being able to live there without him and getting an apartment close to the hospital. they are on pretty good terms these days, still in-love with each other but don’t know where to take it from there. sawyer has been with a few people since the divorce, but nothing serious and knows she will never meet anybody who she’d be able to love like she does everett.

stefan was born into a wealthy family who lived in connecticut and lived there most of his life until he went off to college and attended medical school at john hopkins university. where he met most of the friends and coworkers he still works with today. it’s also where he met his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his two children hannah and greyson.

stefan and layn met when they were in medical school. they started dating and things were going well, they ended up having hannah and greyson. they were happy until one night when wes ended up staying at a bar later than he should’ve after all his friends left and ended up going home with another woman cheating on layn. they ended up separating and wes regrets everything he did to hurt layn, knowing how much he still loves her.

he is sad about layn’s ectopic pregnancy, but he’s more worried about her and how she’s dealing with it. he’s been trying to help more around the house and stay over there in the guest room, whenever she’ll let him.
