Dashing Along with Twitter Apps
(Image from bostonmediadomain.com)
There are various social media dashboards available on the web to enhance one's Twitter experience. Here is my review of six apps after testing them out:
Hootsuite allows you to view more than one social networking stream at once. I like how you can see all your various Twitter streams at once including Home Feed, Mentions, Direct Messages, and Sent Tweets. From my experience, it helped me stay organized while tweeting and sending @ replies. If I had to tweet for a company or an organization, the feature to manage multiple streams would certainly come in handy instead of logging in and out of Twitter to manage multiple accounts.
According to Time Magazine, TweetDeck is a tiny program that makes Twitter easier to use. I agree with that after using it both as a Desktop and an iPhone version. The smartphone version is more condensed.
The Seesmic web dashboard is a glamorous way of viewing your home stream, @ Mentions, and hashtags (like #NewhouseSM4 for my social media class). And, it's displayed all in one browser tab. I like the design schemes and the ability to update statuses on the go.
SocialOomph is great for scheduling new updates and the TweetCockpit enables power sharing and an integrated timeline of tweets.
The main feature of TweetGrid is the ability to get real-time search results. The design is also very minimalistic.
Monitter is great for monitoring certain keywords and trending topics/hashtags. The design is also quite simplistic, but the concept is brilliant.
Out of all these Twitter Apps, I probably plan on using Hootsuite the most because it seems to contain all the capabilities and features of these six apps combined (and it has a gorgeous design to boot).
