This was not a normal part of a Chosenâs Journey of Regeneration, but Kratos could not say that he was complaining either.
Several years ago now, this is where he had met her: Anna. The woman who would become the light of his life for the few brief years they found themselves together. And in here, the man who took her away.
In truth, Kratos would always blame himself for Annaâs death. It was his blade, grasped by his hand, wet with her blood. No matter how it got there, it was his fault.
His eyes refocused, determination setting into the lines of his jaw. There was an undeniable note of agitation in Lloyd, too, something Kratos found peculiar given the boyâs demeanor up until now. There was nothing for it but to watch closely, however, and that could only go so far when Kvar prowled within this place.
âKeep your focus,â Kratos reminded the group, eyes straying longer on Lloyd. âIf your guard lowers for even one moment, then we will lose all that we came here for in the first place, and the Chosenâs Journey will end.â At the end, he had his own role to play right now, regardless of how he felt.
â...R-right.â Kratosâ words had been enough to shake off a bit of that tension though it had not outright vanish completely.
Moments after through Raineâs hacking skills to being chased and cornered by Kvar and his men in a room where humans were being processed into Exspheres and Exsphere host bodies, there had been a moment of the Cardinal gloating his evil deeds as if proud before turning those disturbing evil eyes directly at Lloyd as if gazing into his soul.
âHmm...this is quite interesting now that Iâve got a good look at you, boy.â Kvar was now smirking. âThat inferior brat thought to have been eaten by the monsters along with his pitiful mother 14 YEARS AGO IS STILL ALIVE and in possession MY Angelus Project.â That smirk now morphed into a sneer. âYou have no right to use that. Return it to me now and if Iâm merciful...I might allow you a quick and painless death.â
âMurderer.â Lloyd muttered under his breath.
âHmm? What was that, boy? Would you speak up? Mumbling is rather impolite.â The squinty eyed Cardinal was making a mocking gesture as if he couldnât hear.
âYouâre the REASON I ended up an orphan, YOU SICK TWISTED BASTARD! IâM GONNA RIP YOU LIMB FROM LIMB!â
