WHY DID THE ENDLESS ONE TELL KENNETH TO TAKE ESTHER?

The Endless One wanted to take Esther as a means to block part of the prophecy from coming true, expecting Esther to be the child who would interfere. It planned on consuming her.

When it turns out she wasn't, the Endless One was conflicted on what to do with her. As a result it gave her back to Kenneth to raise, as (imagine for a moment there weren't a bunch of Travis clones and he only had one kid) Kenneth would not have a child that it felt he would see as "fit to continue his bloodline," it saw that Esther could possibly be. Even if it wouldn't be his true bloodline, it figured that she would be a more "satisfactory" heir to him.

Since it saw no point in the senseless killing of her (even it will not just blindly, carelessly kill) it decided to repurpose her.

And it's been that way ever since.

"It seems our family is going through a hard time right now and some kind of fucking curse has been placed on me."
