I'm going to give you my two cents because I recently had a friend try to take their car recently and ended up injured. There's so little resources for people looking to take shifters, as so much of the car porn floating around on the internet is very focused on penetration, not the act of being penetrated. I've been meaning to write this anyways so ... here we go!
On Taking Shifters ( + Interior Sex Alternatives )
DISCLAIMER: I am not a Car Sex Expert, this is my advice from someone who has taken two different kinds of shifters. I am not liable for whatever happens to you should you listen ( or not listen ) to what I have to say. This is written from the perspective of someone who has a vagina and tdick, but I will be attempting to cover multiple genital configurations near the end of this document for car sex alternatives.
I'm going to preface this by saying: I don't think having sex with a car that isn't yours is necessarily a good idea for a myriad of reasons. There's a lot of gray areas when it comes to consent, as these are objects that others interact with / have ownership of.
Moreover, this is an object you will be passing on to a new owner. Looking at the setup of a 2004 Forester's interior, the track is a "zigzag" as opposed to a straight back and forth track like Tuxedo's, which means more fluid / lube would collect in the cracks. Cleaning this vehicle up for sale so that it is sanitary and safe for its new owner is absolutely imperative, and it may be entirely possible that this can only be done by popping panels. ( Which I've done and is easy! But not everyone has the tools or technical confidence to do this. )
I will also say that taking this specific model of shifter may be difficult because of the proximity of where the console / dash is at, so keep that in mind, as these will all affect how deep / angled the shifter feels inside you.
This advice is for taking a shifter vaginally. I cannot, in good faith, recommend that you take a shifter anally, due to concerns about lubrication, muscle contractions, and angle of penetration.
Preparation
Generally, when getting ready to be intimate with my vehicle, I black all the windows with magnetic clings + sunshades in the front & back and park somewhere inconspicuous. I typically only have vehicle sex at night, I've found 12 AM - 5 AM is generally the "golden hour" for privacy. Hidden in plain sight works best for me; I park in front of my home and have an excuse ready to go, generally headphones + my phone handy where I will tell people I am on private call with my long distance partner if approached. ( I have yet to be approached! If you're quiet people generally won't have a clue you're in your car. )
If looking for lighting solutions, I recommend red light lanterns as the color won't reset your night vision, reduces eye strain, and is harder to see in the dark, which means less chance of getting caught.
Wear clothing that you can easily slip on and off at a moment's notice. I usually go commando with my underthings and wear a loose shirt / tank + beltless short combo. Sandals or slip-ons will be your best friend too.
When preparing the car itself for sex, ALWAYS sleeve the shifter with a condom and use a A LOT OF LUBE. Apply a little at a time to mitigate pooling / spillage, smooth it over the shifter, and then apply more until you get a very even coating of it. If you think it's enough, add more.
Always err on the side of caution when lubricating the shifter. Remember: you are taking something that is plastic. It will not yield to you and squish the way a dildo will. There should be enough lube that your hand can very easily jerk the shifter off without resistance.
The Act
When you believe your shifter is properly lubricated, you can now get to the fun part: lowering yourself onto him. I typically do this by straddling the console with my knees on either seat, back towards the dash, angling my hips back with my waist at a slight angle, and pressing my entrance against the head of the shifter.
Everyone's body is different, and this is no different for your own canal and what angle you can comfortably take an insertion in. For me, I lift my body in an almost up and down motion to take Tux's stick. You should feel yourself slowly get split apart by the insertion if you're doing this right. GO SLOW. Listen to your body. This should NOT hurt. There will, at worst, be a pop and a sting, but the bulk of any "pain" you feel will be your vaginal muscles squeezing hard plastic once you get aroused enough. If it feels too big, it probably is! Stretch yourself beforehand ( I have multiple dildos to help myself warm up ) and try again.
Looking at your Subaru's shifter, it has a shape closer to what I'm used to taking with Tux. The feeling will probably be comparable: the very wide head will gradually open you up, there will be a "pop" sensation, and then you will be sucked down onto the primary "shaft" of the shifter.
The shape of the shifter's head "hooks" back and towards you, and will probably keep you locked onto his console. It's almost like a reverse knot. This is a very exciting, erotic feeling, and can even feel very possessive and intimate, but it means that extricating yourself up and off the shifter when you're done will be difficult.
This "locked" feeling also means your options with riding will probably be limited. Personally, I use a sucker toy + Ferri against my tdick and grind, shallowly ride, or opt to clench around Tux and come with her stick inside me. These both feel great. Hard up and down riding will probably be painful or unpleasant, as you will feel your car "tugging" you. I don't want to be alarmist, but the act of pulling yourself off the shifter will sometimes tug your labia down and feels close to what I imagine prolapse feels like, so please exercise caution and ride shallow before adjusting accordingly.
This is an extremely vulnerable position to be in. It will be uncomfortable, strenuous, and very physically taxing. It takes me twice as long to come while on a shifter because you will get tired, but my orgasms are typically very intense and a mix of clitoral + vaginal. The closer you get to orgasm, the more your internal muscles will clench, and because the insertion you're taking is a hard material, it will not yield to you and can introduce a "pinching" sensation. This is normal.
Because of this, I do not recommend lingering on a stick too long. It is generally the "climax" of car sex for me. Get on, finish as fast as you can, and get off. When you are finished, remove yourself again with the same "up and away" motion. When you finish, moving around immediately afterwards will probably hurt a little bit because of how inflamed + tender you are. There is a lot of blood down there! Your internal canal will probably be inflamed, to the point where straightening will give you a pinching / cramping feeling around where your womb is. You can wait for the bloodflow to recede if necessary, I typically wait a few minutes to catch my breath.
Straighten slowly and pull your hips up and away from the stick. You will feel the shifter tug your labia. I usually put my hands around my entrance and brace my skin down against my body to keep it steady as I feel the shifter slip out of me gradually. Go very slow. It will be uncomfortable but shouldn't hurt. Spotting afterwards can be normal, but you should not be bleeding heavily.
Clean Up
Clean up is pretty straightforwards. I keep wet wipes in my own vehicle. Remove the condom slowly to avoid tearing and towel down the stick with some kind of wet wipe. You can also use interior detailing spray + a paper towel. Using something wet is imperative as many condoms have internal lubricant that will be smeared against your stick. Clean any fallout or residue that has also dribbled onto the track and towel down with a dry towel, paper or cloth.
If you want to truly get your vehicle clean, you can go the extra mile and pop the panels on the console with panel popping tools so you can access the track without any obstruction. I only really do this once a month or so. If your vehicle will be in your life for an extended period of time, I recommend purchasing these tools anyways! They're great and allow you to do simple maintenance yourself. ( I replaced Tuxedo's cigarette burner and dash acrylic myself this way. )
Alternatives
As I mentioned, taking a shifter is a very laborious, if rewarding process. It is not something I recommend people do without extensive preparation. I personally used the buddy system when first being intimate with Tux, as my boyfriend was on call the whole time in case I injured myself + talking me through it with advice.
That being said, there's a few alternatives if you still want to be intimate with your boy before he's put out to proverbial pasture.
Humping up and against the steering wheel feels incredible. I like to use a stroker on my tdick and position it against the wheel so it can hold the toy steady as I hump into it. Pump your seat up, angle yourself back, and swing your hips up towards the wheel to frot your clitoris / penis against the wheel.
