" Ouch! Motherfucking piece of…Damn this…"
The downpour of insults was interrupted by a loud thud as the side door flew open, slamming against the wall with such force the knob chipped the tile where they collided. A pale hand began searching the wall for the tiny light switch, leaving a trail...
It was dark, although it seemed like no time had passed since the sky was a periwinkle cotton-speckled canvas. Eris rubbed her eyes and sat up straighter. She had been engrossed in a gripping book - banned, however - that she had gotten from the back of a bookstore which sold illegal literature (if you knew the right people). The book was the first of a seven-book series. At first, the plot sounded childish and idiotic but, behind closed doors, Eris was falling in love with the carrot-topped underdog, frizzy haired brainiac, and parent-less hero. Too bad she couldn't do a spell for a snack to magically appear. The Rag Doll dog-eared the page she was in and sighed as she kicked her long legs to the floor. In her fuzzy socks and pyjamas (tonight was a quiet night in for the usual party animal), the raven-haired girl made her way to the kitchen. She was having an inner debate about the two-headed dog the teenage wizards had just suddenly happened upon when she turned on the hall light with a quick movement. Rubbing her eyes again (they were getting tired from a lot reading, something Eris wasn't very accustomed to) she turned into the kitchen. As she reopened her eyes, the Doll first saw blood smears on the wall. Her face paled, first confused at what she saw and then trying to force her mind away from magic and into fight mode. Whirling around, the young woman laid eyes on her leader, who was on the floor. She looked pale, wet from the rain, and Eris noticed the blood right away. "Keagan!" She exclaimed worriedly, sinking down to the other girl. "What happened?!"
Ooc So sorry how do I do a read more from mobile??? Anywho, this is just me checking in from Roma! Finally got WiFi (literally the best feeling). I posted the Sage para starter so I hope that worked and the Keagan reply will come tonight! (It's 4:08 pm Italy time).
"One for the Road" (Eris and Sage)
Eris had been walking along a busy city sidewalk when something caught her eye. The woman sitting on a bench a few metres ahead had a purse that the Rag Doll she could never afford but coveted with all her girlish heart. This was the type of purse that told people you needed valet parking and truffles and spa retreats. This bag showed you may be kind but you shouldn't have to be and you were a certain kind of selfish. Eris slowed and stared at the fabric longingly. The woman shifted, crossing her legs while taking out her phone - to call her private decorator, no doubt - and the bag was simply plopped down beside her like an old piece of luggage. Although odd, the raven-haired girl could relate to the sewn leather; the way it wanted to shine, if only it's owner would pick it up and show it off. With a neutral expression and a consistent pace, Eris walked by the bench plucked the bag by its perfect handles and dove into the crowd. She knew that was a risky move since there were witnesses in the broad daylight but she just couldn't help herself. Sure enough, the woman yelled out for her bag and people turned to look. With a feeling not like regret but upset, Eris took off, trying to zigzag through people and find a way to hide from whomever was trying to play the valiant hero.

"Tequila Transfer" (Eris and Sylvie)
"Uh…." Sylvie glanced at the clock on the wall and did a little mental math. "We got time." She said causally, slinging the bursting bag over her shoulder. It was code for they had no time at all and better get out fast. As much as she was confident the actual Government hadn’t been contacted, who knew about other outside forces. They had been in there long enough, and had all the loot they could carry, plus some. It was time for them to go.
As Eris threatened the cowering couple, Sylvie moved in on the creep. From what she had learned from Eris, and other sources, this man was the scum of the earth. There were very desperate people in Battery. They were starving, dying, disease ridden, and this man took advantage of all that. He was one of the men that had driven her mother to be a prostitute. This hit close to home and there was no way she was letting him get away unscathed. She narrowed her eyes at him viciously and crouched down to his level.
He opened his mouth, like he was going to plead for his life, blubber a little more but Sylvie didn’t let him get a word out. She leveled her gun at his forehead and he immediately clammed up with fear. “Stop with the girls Mr. Dee.” She whispered, her lips almost touching his ear. “Or else.” She said, trailing her gun up his chest. Without another word, she got up and started to walk away. He gave a sigh of relief, thinking it was all over, but in a blink of an eye, Sylvie twirled around and shot him between the legs. “Oh shit…my bad.” She laughed, truly astonished at the look on his face. She had totally just shot his dick. Fitting.
Eris nodded curtly in response to Sylvie. She was running out of time to toy with her victims. "Oops times up!" she said with a cheerful air to her voice, the young couple beginning to cry and hold each other. Roughly and with out explanation, the Rag Doll grabbed each of their hands and held them out in front of them. "3, 2, 1" she counted down before jumping slightly at the gunshot that didn't come from her. Whirling around, she saw Sylvie laugh and felt relieved that the scumbag hadn't suddenly gotten the upper hand. As she turned back around, Eris fired her gun twice, hitting the wall right behind the quivering civilians and smirking. "I like to keep people on their toes, what can I say?" she said with a laugh.
"Wish I could stay here all night but I have a very busy schedule," she said in a mocking voice, stepping over the crouching and laying customers to get to where Sylvie was. She stared at the owner and laughed out loud when she saw where the redhead's bullet hit. "What a fitting wound," she scoffed at the man, who was clutching himself in pain. "Good to go?" she asked Sylvie, gesturing for her to head to the doorway.
"Goodnight, ladies and gents. Hope you enjoyed the show!"
"The River" (Eris & Lucas)
The way she was looking at him didn’t go amiss, Lucas grateful in the deep, dark corners of his ribcage. It made things easier, how she wasn’t distrustful. “Must’ve gotten really lost in thought if you made it all the way from the Church to here,” he said, taking half a step forward - his own eyes glinting amber in the pale strip of light he’d stepped into. Tutting, he shook his head, arms at his sides before he responded to her comment.
“‘S not exactly like you’re the one who should be commenting on that, considering the territory and our reputation, but — if you really have to know - you’re not the only one who couldn’t sleep.”
It wasn’t entirely a lie. It just wasn’t the truth, either. It wasn’t that he hadn’t been able to sleep, it was that he hadn’t tried to at all. Like a lot of the other Soldiers, Lucas was primarily a nocturnal creature; up in the dark hours of the night, returning at dawn and leaving at dusk.
"So here I am, playing Marco Polo all by my lonesome in the middle of the night." He said it all with a smile and a shrug, still keeping a respectful distance from the raven-haired Rag Doll - whose name he still didn’t know. "Was contemplating heading towards the city, in all honesty. Got nothing else to do."
"Getting lost is an adventure. Some of the most fun I've had came from getting lost or wandering." Eris kept up her smiling, twirling, and twinkling. "And there always is a lot to think about when you live the way we do," she added. Being a gang member was no picnic. There were raids to plan, agents to avoid or kill, and there was the constant pressure of getting food on the table and maintaining supplies.
"Well Marco Polo's kinda pointless by yourself. Guess it's lucky you found a partner, however unsuspecting I was," the Doll responded with a demure smile. When Lucas mentioned heading into the city, Eris nodded with a lack of enthusiasm. "You could, if you're in the mood for a stroll stuck in the shadows and listening for possible footsteps signalling government forces," she said casually. The Rag Doll often ventured into the city at night time - mostly for criminal intent - and had learned many tricks after 6 years in a gang. Still, that's not what she had in mind for this early hour of the morning.
"Plus we only just started playing. Don't tell me I wandered this far for nothing," she said with a hint of seduction in her tone.
"400 Lux" (Eris and Dee)
”Cool.” Dee said, following Eris out of the open garage. A+P tended to be a bit fancy for her tastes – she was more of a thrift shop girl, herself – but sometimes she’d find a gem, so she didn’t mind going there. The pace Eris set was fine for her to follow along on her crutches without completely losing her breath, and the streets weren’t too crowded at this time on a Wednesday, so the going was fine – they’d get where they wanted without any trouble.
”I don’t know,” Dee replied to the other Doll’s question, trying to imagine herself looking good in anything with only one fucking leg. Since the attack, she’d kind of let herself go looks-wise: no makeup, ponytail, tee shirt and cotton shorts or sweatpants. Maybe if she tried leading the attention away from her deformities.. “A dress, maybe? Something black. With sequins.” It seemed kind of basic, but she could dress it up with some accessories and a good shoe when she got back to the church, and maybe it’d work. Maybe it’d look good. Dee looked to Eris, lips forming a smile. ”What about you?”
A black sequin dress was more sexy than Eris had imagined Dee to want, at least the way she had appeared moping earlier that day, but she was thrilled. "That sounds perfect!" She immediately pictured the blonde with some fabulous eyeliner - maybe even a coloured one, like blue - and a really loud shoe - something red, perhaps, and with a matching bag.
"Well I had this red dress - tight in all the right places and showed just the right amount of cleavage - but it got... well, tugged off a little too roughly." She smirked, remembering practically mourning over the ripped zipper and torn strap the next day. "Maybe something to replace that? Otherwise a mini skirt and a bustier."
Since her parents' deaths 6 years ago, Eris took pride in making sure her appearance was almost always at its best. Living in third-hand clothing her whole adolescent life made her the subject of much teasing and self-consciousness. Never again would her jeans be too short or a hem be frayed.
"Okay it's right up there," she said to Dee, gesturing to the large store that was less than a block ahead. As they approached the light grey building with the shiny window displays, Eris smiled. She pushed open one of the large glass doors, holding it so Dee could enter. Stepping after the other Rag Doll, the raven-haired girl inhaled deeply. The scent of perfume from the beauty section mixed with the fresh clothes to create something wonderful and much different from the desert and the Church. "Okay," she said, refocussing to the task at hand, "women's apparel should be on the right and more night-wear dresses are towards the back." Eris gestured for Dee to head over there, already scouring some racks as they passed by.
"A World Alone" (Eris & Sin)
There was something subtly hostile about the other girl, but Sin couldn’t quite put her finger on it - or what made her seem familiar, somehow, like a person she might have met in a world removed. Then again, maybe it had been in the world they were currently in, but Sin couldn’t know for sure. Having a knack for remembering faces and places meant she’d sometimes get confused - especially if she couldn’t remember more than the visuals.
"Rough night, huh." The comment slipped out as easy as that, Sin too laid-back to consider the consequences of speaking so freely around a stranger. She had no reason to believe the other woman was an agent - the encounter was too random for that; the streets too empty. She was just another citizen on the wrong side of the law by the looks of it, and Sin would always trust her gut.
"I won’t keep ya," she continued, picking up her slow walk; pacing towards the raven-haired stranger, careful to keep an acceptable distance.
Eris' mind was working fast - well, at its top speed for having just woken up and snuck out of whoever she slept with last night's place. The other woman just didn't sit right with her and the Rag Doll was trying to figure out why. Maybe it was just the fact that she'd been caught on a walk of shame but it felt like there was more to it.
At the nonchalant comment, the raven-haired girl raised her eyebrows in disbelief. She pursed her lips, willing herself not to shoot something snarky in response to the unwarranted assessment. However, it did help her along in realizing why she felt such a dislike for the other woman.
Just as the she began to continue on her way, Eris' mouth parted slightly in recognition and she clenched her muscles. An image appeared of the young woman's face remarkably close to her own, though much younger. There was a glisten of sweat and the Rag Doll felt her heart race. Dropping her bag beside her shoes with a thump, she ground her teeth. "Sin?" she asked, her tone cold and filled with disgust. "Never though I'd see your fucking face near me again." She felt her thirteen-year old self surface inside, recalling their history.
"Tequila Transfer" (Eris and Sylvie)
The man started stuttering and a feral grin found its way on to Sylvie’s face. This was way more fun then it should’ve been. She shrugged on Eris’ backpack and glanced at the clock on the wall. “And your time starts…now!” She cheered. The man stared at her fearfully so she prodded him with her gun. “That’s fifteen seconds gone, get started.” He jumped, like she had just given him an electric shock and then quickly started shoving money into another bag. Sylvie kept an eye on him while also scanning the bar. They had been in there for a while and there could be someone coming to help Sneaky Dee.
As she scanned the room, she noticed a man at the back fiddling with something behind him. She narrowed her eyes and stepped on the tables to get to him. His eyes widened as she got closer and he stood extremely still. She flicked her finger at him and he hurriedly got out of the way. She scoffed when she saw the phone behind him. “Who were you going to call? The police?” She asked sarcastically. She turned over the Eris and raised her voice. “Hey, I gotta candidate for the second shot Eris!”
This was exciting, Eris decided, as she watched the customers on the floor. She was still feeling nearly high from the adrenaline and she let herself smirk, feeling a toothy grin would be inappropriate at the moment. When Sylvie left her post near the owner to go to the back, the Rag Doll made sure to have a gun trained on the old perv and also ready to have the redhead's back if need be.
"You do..." Eris began in a casual voice, gesturing for Sylvie to keep the bar covered while she went to check out a possible next victim. The raven-haired woman laid eyes on the phone and scoffed. "We have a smart one here, everyone!" she shouted to the her hostages. "I'm feeling generous, though." The man who tried to call for help had a flash of relief on his face but it only made this more fun. "So generous that I'll let you choose: left hand or right hand?". The man's already pasty skin turned white. "30 seconds. We're almost ready to leave and you certainly don't want to be what's holding us up."
A woman who was lying on the floor next to the man lifted her head slowly and looked at him with watery eyes. Clearly a girlfriend of some sort. She tried to whisper something to him - Eris couldn't hear what - but the Doll didn't care. She was having one of the best nights she'd had in a while. "What part of DON'T MOVE did you not understand?" she said, pointing her gun at the woman. "Looks like I'll reach my 3 shot quota after all. And new plan: you," she began, staring at the quivering girlfriend, "get to choose left or right hand for your Mister, and you," she continued, facing the shocked boyfriend, "get to choose the same for your Missus." Eris smirked and clicked a bullet into place. "Time's ticking."
"Sylvie?" she called out, checking in on her progress and trying to gauge how much more time they had.
