Edward Kinsella has a knack for crafting monsters. Using just a few hues and strokes, the St. Louis artist creates haunting portraits and illustrations that are seemingly simple in form, yet wholly cerebral. See more on HiFructose.com.

"HERK HARVEY'S MACABRE MASTERPIECE GAINED A CULT-FOLLOWING ON LATE-NIGHT TELEVISION.
PIC(S) INFO: For your Halloween viewing consideration -- Spotlight on remastered Criterion Collection cover art and film stills to the B-movie/cult classic/psychological horror film "Carnival of Souls" (1962), directed by Herk Harvey. Cover artwork by Edward Kinsella.
OVERVIEW: "A young woman (Candace Hilligoss) in a small Kansas town survives a drag race accident, then agrees to take a job as a church organist in Salt Lake City. En route, she is haunted by a bizarre apparition that compels her toward an abandoned lakeside pavilion. Made by industrial filmmakers on a small budget, the eerily effective B-movie classic "Carnival of Souls" was intended to have “the look of a Bergman and the feel of a Cocteau” — and, with its strikingly used locations and spooky organ score, it succeeds. Herk Harvey’s macabre masterpiece gained a cult following on late-night television and continues to inspire filmmakers today."

STUDY OF BOWIE (1976) by Michael Whelan
Many years ago in a galaxy far, far away I was faced with painting works to use as portfolio pieces, hoping to secure a commission from a national magazine like Time. Being an early and enthusiastic fan of David Bowie, I decided it was a good opportunity to combine my interests in SF and his music in one piece.
In the end, I believe it never was used for a publication, but I don’t regret taking the time to create it. (Needless to say, I was thrilled to learn that he was cast as the lead in the film THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH!)
We are all diminished by the loss of this singular and uncompromising artist. Fly on forever, Major Tom.
