“That’s not true. Education is important, man.” He says, entirely seriously, before getting to his feet.

“Give me a few minutes to grab mine. I’ll be fast. Ground Gamma?”

Huh. An unexpected show of... something. Courtesy, or respect. Maybe not for him, but for the fact that they’re studying. Aizawa blinks a moment, taken aback, before starting to gather up his things.

He was from the surface? She thought this place was completely cut off from the surface… That was strange. The child’s head tilts to one side thinking it over deeply. She caught the anemo vision and immediately she jumped in delight. “The wind lead you here!” She was sure that had to be why he was here.

Oh… but that wasn’t what he asked. “I live here!” She announced grabbing his hand leading him towards her home. It would be safe there for him. It was safe for her at least. “It’s been a long time since someone called me by my name…” What was it again? She had too many names along the line… Which one was real? Which did she even remember…?

It didn’t matter. She was forgotten, but it seemed the wind found it’s way back to her in an odd way. In the form of a strange man… He didn’t quite feel like he fit the wind he had in his possession either.

“Why are you here? Is something wrong?” Other than the fact that everyone here was frozen in a moment of time, the shades kept alive after death by time. There were the monsters, that was expected, it shouldn’t have drawn surface dwellers here though.

Surface… how long has it been? Years? Centuries? She wasn’t sure anymore. “Oh! But you know… the wind doesn’t fit you…” She told him as she made her way to the ruined building. “Why do you have it?”

His expression is unreadable at the child’s insistence that the wind led him here. He can’t contest that- it did, one way or another, and he feels his throat tighten up as he decides to simply nod.

Aizawa doesn’t offer any protest as the child pulls him along, shaking his head as if to clear the clouds from within it. “So then... you live here alone,” he says cautiously, glancing around. How could a child survive down here alone? What did she eat? The fact that she was capable of speech meant that someone must have been here with her- someone from Watatsumi, maybe? That was how he was able to gain entrance- some ritual they needed to do, which opened the way into this twilit kingdom.

“I’m not sure,” he replies carefully to her first question. “I’m hunting monsters, you could say. There are monsters here. Something might be wrong.”

“I’m sure he does, but I don’t know it. And seeing as he follows you everywhere, I figured it was good to cover my bases.” Nothing but quips, but he’s pleased his offer was accepted.

“When are you free?”

Rather than rising to that quip (because really, he can’t deny it- the blond does follow him everywhere, along with his equally loud friend), he glances at his books.

I’ve got this friend up in the atmosphere.

 “Yeah I know a quirk assessment is a waste of time on me now that I can’t even use my quirk. To answer the question though yes I got experience in martial arts, took classes for years with the green haired nerd over there.” Pointing to Izuku who was doing warm up stretches before their testing would start. Somehow the nerd had a quirk and things weren’t making any sense to him now but right now what mattered was proving that admitting him into the hero course wasn’t a waste of time.  “Also don’t be trying to talk me out of this either, I know the risks that come with this and I accept them. I know being quirkless leaves me at a severe disadvantage and all that talk of quirkless having no business being in the hero field. I’m not just going to abandon my dream because of a minor setback.”

What a bag of hot air...

“I don’t need to talk you out of it,” he informs the kid, starting to roll his shoulders and crack his knuckles. “We’ll see how long you last.” Aizawa certainly isn’t trying to avoid his cruel reputation.

Well, at least this kid’s lack of a usable Quirk means he won’t have to use Erasure. His dry, painful eyes thank him for that. His lips twitch, one corner drawing up ever so slightly as he looks over the kid in front of him. That green haired nerd is a worry for later, though he can’t quite decide if lacking a Quirk entirely or possessing such a destructive one is a bigger handicap.

Reaching up, he threads the fabric of his capture weapon through his fingers. “Your goal in this exercise is to try and touch me. I won’t be actively fighting you, only countering what you do. It doesn’t even have to be a blow of any kind- if you manage to poke me, that’ll count.”

That smirk grows into a crooked grin. There’s too many teeth, and while the expression does reach his eyes, it isn’t in a good way.

“Punching you is a bonus, not the end goal. But yeah, usual rules.” He responds dryly, crossing his arms over his chest. Two could play at the sarcasm game.

“And don’t bring that loud blond guy. I can’t read his lips and I don’t wear these-” he gestures to his hearing aids- “when I’m sparring. All it sounds like is annoying muffled squealing.”

He can already feel anxiety crawling into his lungs- even without his Quirk, Kan is way ahead of him in terms of combat training. Aizawa gets the feeling he’ll be walking away from this with a black eye and a very smug douchebag.

Inui was right. Something about this guy just made you want to shove him into a locker.

The two usually were a set, but today the dog-quirked boy was off at the dentist, so it was just him.

And…whatever Aizawa was. The limp sack of Aizawa sitting right in front of him.

“Being rude’s gonna get you punched one of these days.” He sits down in the seat opposite, eyes narrowing derisively.

“I wanted to see if you wanted to spar. I need to not rely on my quirk, and you obviously need physical conditioning. It’s an obvious matchup.”

“Um... so you wanna punch me anyways?”

Too much bluster. Warning him that his attitude is gonna get him beat up, only to go on and ask to spar? With a heavy sigh, he looks down. It’s certainly true that he needs all the practice he can get. As he is now, most opponents are taller and more muscular than him, so Kan isn’t exactly wrong. He just hates being approached like this.

It would come as little surprise that Aizawa doesn’t get along particularly well with the kids from class B. It’s Sensoji’s fault, giving him such a bad impression of the whole lot- though really, he doesn’t seem to get along with many people at all, so the blaster is hardly the only one to blame for this.

Regardless, he eyes the figure approaching him with no small amount of mistrust. Kan, he thinks, another musclebound jerk with a flashy Quirk. His lips curve into a frown.
