I feel like people don't discuss Fontaine as a fucked up father figure enough other than "Andrew and Frank are divorced fathers trying to kill each other" (which is true, don't get me wrong). Or, well, he isn't one, but he thinks he is. He does try to kill Jack every chance he gets, but he sounds so possessive about it. His ending lines pretty much confirm it, he views Jack as his property the way most parents in their time would treat their kids. Not to mention he contacts him on the radio, like, every 5 minutes to taunt Jack with the fact that Frank created him. I think he got, IDK, reverse daddy issues. Son issues?

In general, it's funny how some people say Bioshock is about a mother and a father fighting for custody over their son because no, not really. Tenenbaum helps Jack, but more because he is the only person who can help her at this moment. She shows the least attachment for him other than calling him a child once I guess? Not to mention she knows that it's you from the start, she made you but, like, she barely shows it or cares to mention it. Only contacts you to talk about her little sisters until you kill Ryan. While both Andrew and Frank are pissing themselves from anger calling you their son, claiming Jack. Both upset you didn't live up to their expectation.
