Overloaded Public Defense Systems Result in More Prison Time, Less Justice

The social inequality of the justice system has reached an all time low, comparing the likelihoods of different races and genders most likely to end up in prison is crushing. With today’s advanced science we know that ethnicity has nothing to do with how violent a male or female is. Looking at the image above solidifies how much prejudice and discrimination is in the U.S. justice system. There should not be a difference of 93 people on average going to prison between black and white women and 6 people on average going to prison between black and white men.
Black men are over three times more likely to end up in prison than white men. Ethnic groups are more likely to be wrongfully convicted and more likely to begin committing crimes because of knowing that police officers and other authority figures likely believe they take part in criminal activity and are likely to stop them and question them due to thinking those thoughts. Black men are five times more likely to be stopped and searched than white men, and 40% of prisoners 18 years of age or younger belong to black, asian, mixed, or other groups. Our, U.S. Justice System is unreasonably unjust and it is time for change.
