FIELD EAUX is the first solo EP by Canadian experimental producer, C. Ballantyne.

This album was made using only manipulated field recordings taken during Eaux Claires Music Festival in Eau Claire, WI. The sounds were stretched, cut up, distorted, and manipulated to create samples + instruments from the experience. The lyrics within the project welled up from short impressions upon him during his time travelling to Eau Claire, from his hometown in Ontario, with friends + collaborators Tom Meikle & Will Crosson. 

We decided that in honour of #PianoDay we would release two beautiful piano improvisations from Painted Bluffs [aka @Willy_Boy123].

Now, we present to you: 'Parallel', a companion album.

Over the past year, we asked the producers + artists from within the Epoch Tapes family to take the sounds from 'Two Lines', deconstruct them down + create new works from these pieces of old sounds.

We are excited to share these new tracks from our own Mappe Of, Glass Face, Dylan King, Nunu, World of Ornament, Kory Ross, Rowan Grice, Rebekah Hawker + Connory Ballantyne.

The album artwork- originally by JoJo Worthington + Clarisse Robertson- has been deconstructed + 'unmixed' as well by the incredible Ontario-based artist, Justine Latour.

Two years ago, we started working w an artist we loved. One year ago, we got a call from our friends at Paper Bag Records.

Since then, it's been an insane year of overwhelming excitement, hard decisions, family talks, some tears of joy, break throughs, and lessons learned.

At the end of it all, we are so insanely proud to announce that our own Tom Meikle will be releasing his debut album ‘A Northern Star, A Perfect Stone’ under the moniker Mappe Of on Paper Bag Records July 28th, 2017.

We have been working furiously hard alongside our brother + the amazing team at Paper Bag, in the creative sphere, to create the best possible version of this project that we can. Album artwork, live sets, visuals, videos, etc. We cannot wait to share these collaborations w you.

We are so inexpressibly proud of our brother in this. He is- and always will be- v much an integral member of Epoch. We love you all. So so much more to come. Stay tuned, friends.

[Landscapes of Epoch]

A much anticipated record is around the corner.

Over the past three years that we have toured, made sounds, listened to, cried alongside, and bonded with the boys of Common Age [fka Small Town Lungs], two things has become abundantly clear to us: They are important + they share our vision in ways we cannot express.

We journeyed into our recording santum in Wyebridge, ON this winter + when we emerged we took with us an experience that held the sum of everything that makes Epoch what we are.
