it’s   a   perfect   cliche   for   the   golden   haired   doctor.   stress-induced   baking,   to   help   her   sort   out   her   mind,   and   figure   out   her   feelings.   it’s   the   perfect   scenario   :   she   quietly   works   through   things,   and   her   friends   benefit   from   tasteful   delicacies   !   only   this   time   ---   there’s   a   lot   on   her   mind,   and   a   dozen   cupcakes    quickly   turns   into   four.   it’s   certainly   too   much   for   herself   and   her   roommates   to   finish,   and   while   she’d   usually   take   the   extras   to   work,   she   can’t   exactly   be   at   seattle   grace   right   now   ;   not   when   the   hospital   is   a   home   and   reminder   of   everything   she’s   dealing   with.

dial   up   the   melodrama   for   this   one   ;   a   pretty   image   complete   with   pleading   amber   eyes,   the   edge   of   a   laugh,   and   even   her   impulse-dyed   blonde   hair.   years   of   being   an   adolescent   teen   queen   were   useful,   after   all   !   “   i   have   no   plans,   ‘cause   my   life   is   empty.   i’m   alone   with   no   plans,   whatsoever,   at   all.   ”

❝   you know, it’s a shame that you and dr. shepherd weren’t in chicago even though you weren’t a doctor then.   ❞   her father was a fan of john lennon, not necessarily her – but rachel attempts to metaphorically take a sad song and make it better.  ❝   there was this guy a few years ago  – a legend at the hospital that i worked at — he ended up having a glioblastoma at thirty-eight years old.  you guys make miracles happen every day in the operating room — he deserved that too.  ❞  needless to say, the e.r. doctor admired the younger grey. 

“   oh,   thank   you,   but   it’s   not   me.   i’m   just   dr.   shepherd’s   resident   ...   he’s   the   one   making   it   all   happen.   ”   always   humble,   but   proud   of   the   work   she   gets   to   be   apart   of.   “   it   can   feel   hopeless   ---   we’re   basically   asking   for   a   loss   with   some   of   these   cases   ...   but   when   we   get   it   right   ?   it   makes   everything   worth   it.   i   wish   we   could’ve   been   there.   ”   she   tucks   a   lock   of   brunette   waves   behind   her  ear,   a   sympathetic   smile   pinned   to   her   features.
