Assorted brainrot

I've been a fan of Pokemon since I was 8, when my grandma bought me a copy of Black for the DS as a gift because I was getting into the anime. And from then on I became infatuated with the series for about two years before falling off and coming back for sword and shield..B&W is a really weird game for me because it's most definitely in my top 5 favorite games of all time, but it's one I haven't actually played since I was a child. I've just never had another DS or a device good enough to emulate it until now. And it gets me because obviously the game isn't as good as I remember. It was my first real game I ever played. I didn't see the strings of game design yet because I didn't know what the strings were. I actually imagined a huge chunk of the journey with my pokemon and filled in for the game. And it's such a bittersweet feeling for me. Because I can revisit Unova, but I can't revisit those boring car rides where I played my lil DS for as long as I wanted, or the feeling of learning fundamental lessons about video games as a medium. I can only revisit with an adult mind, on my laptop, playing on an emulator. And I'm having fun don't get me wrong. In the first two hours of playing, I've already experienced more challenge than I remember the early game of Sword and Shield having. And the music is so wonderful. I can hum along to every soundtrack within seconds of hearing it, even though I haven't heard these in years. And as an infamous superchat on.a saltydkdan stream once said, the limited 3D in the game is very charming. Kinda reminds me of the future 2DHD style of graphics.
