my last post on the qwel controversy for now.
tl;dr i'm taking hiatus for a few days/weeks

i have been called a dumbass, been harassed by multiple anons, and vaguely told to off myself because of my post. i'm stepping away from this for now. no posts for the next few days. i can't handle this.
and a note to those anons:
are you happy now? are you happy that you made me have to step away to actually recover from your remarks? are you happy that you almost made me su/c/dal again? fuck off. i swear to god, leave me the fuck alone.
i was trying to help some people to not feel miserable about their favorite game being slowly abandoned by the fans. because dandy's world was more than a game for some people. it helped people get through really hard times. i personally know people who've decided to keep living because of the game. because the characters were relatable or likable for them. or because it helped them make friends who supported them. and to tell them to abandon what saved them because of a controversy? fuck off, again. i was able to reconnect with a friend because of dandy's world. it has changed my life in positive ways, so i'm not leaving it.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it
but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.
You do realise Dandy's World was made in 2024, when she was 19-20, right? If she knew he was doing that stuff, it is incredibly irresponsible for her to make a game directed towards kids with him as the lead developer(and then let him into the discord server full of minors), regardless of his excuses. And yes, I do in fact expect a 17-18 year old to be willing to drop a friend who has drawn actual CSEM, especially when she has given no indication that she has been threatened by or otherwise forced to keep her friendship with him. And that is ignoring how it took two months for her to fire Rox and kick him out from the discord server, again, full of minors(yes, Duck Adam sucks and is doing this for clout, but his motivations being bad does not make the recording suddenly not exist)
There is also a lot of evidence proving that she has been a shitty person as late as 2025. Even if you ignore the two documents full of evidence that you can find via twitter or reddit, the mere fact that she has surely been aware of the awful reputation her discord server/moderators had yet had not done anything to try to fix it(whether to defend her employees and friends or to fix the server so it is less toxic) is proof that, at best, she is an awful boss and should not be running a discord server
To tell people to focus on the victims instead of insulting Qwel while making a post trying to defend someone who had knowingly helped create said victims- to the point where you resort to accusing Rox of threatening her when she has only said that she was unaware/not given proper evidence of what he had done- makes you seem fairly hypocritical

what you did not address is the fact that we have not heard qwel's side of this yet. or that she may be involved with a lawyer.
this is getting very out of hand; this controversy is getting the same attention as the pressure incident which was much worse than anything qwel may have done. all i urge you to do is to wait until we have factual, real court-of-law answers on everything.
