The Blood Moon and the Fugitive God

The world was plagued by the Blood Moon, a malicious entity that appears at night and spawns Blood Beasts. The Blood Moon is worshipped by a cult that worship the moon and seek to convert the rest of humanity into their numbers. Should anyone refuse to join the cult they would fall pray to the beasts. Worship of the Blood Moon was the most wide spread religion until one fateful night, a God parted the skies and entered this world. The God, escaping from from their own world, brought along their three infant God siblings. They sought refuge within the last kingdom standing ground against the Moon Cult. The God, coming to be known as the Fugitive God, promised the king they would protect their kingdom, in exchange for a safe haven for their three younger siblings. The king accepted and took in the God children, whilst the Fugitive God protected the kingdom from the Blood Moon valiantly. However one day, the Fugitive God left, promising their young siblings they would return. Sadly the Fugitive God never did come back to the kingdom. Despite this, the king continued to protect the young Gods. As the three siblings grew up, they each granted many gifts to humanity, aiding them in their continuous war against the Blood Moon.

The Third God was weak and struck with illness. Despite the king bringing in scholars and healers from around the world, nothing could cure their ills. For much of their life, they were confined to a bed. However they still wished to serve humanity, and so they offered their blood. This blood, known as the God Blood, was first given to seven knights, turning them into the first Saguims. With the God Blood in their veins, the Sanguims were able to efficiently fight off the Beasts of the Blood Moon. Up until then, humanity had no way of killing the Beasts permanently. Eventually more knights were given the God Blood, and it is from these that all Sanguims descent.  

Historical records do not state what became of the youngest God after this, though many scholars debate that they passed soon after the creation of Sanguims.

The Second God became a brave knight that defended the kingdom. After an sustaining an injury that made them unable to fight, they raised a protective barrier around the kingdom to ward off the Beasts. They spent their years training knights and raising an army against the Blood Moon. When the youngest God gave humanity their God Blood, the Second God personally raised the seven children that would receive the blood. The children grew up to become the Knights of the God Blood, the very first Sanguims. Tragically, all but one of the seven knights died young. When the last knight died of old age, the Second God perished not long after.

The First God grew up to become a fine scholar, who studied the Blood Beasts to find their weaknesses. But more than anything, they were a magnificent ruler. The Oldest God eventually fell in love with the king's daughter and married into the royal family. After the king's death they became the new leader of the nation. They were known to show compassion to their subjects, but no such mercy was granted to their enemies. A renowned leader who was feared by the Blood Moon itself. Together with the queen they fathered many Godly children. The royal family today are all descendants of the oldest sibling. They are revered for their connections to the Gods and are literally seen as demi-gods. The First God ruled for many years, though they passed away at the ripe old age of 700.

Today, the blood moon worshippers are the minority of this world. The majority of the worshippers that remain are innocent civilians, simply seeking to practice their faith in peace. However blood beasts still spawn, and without the worshippers, run completely rampant during the Blood Moon. The military force, mainly consisting of Sanguims, still wage war against the Beasts. The reigning religion today worship the Fugitive God and their three God siblings, though some sects vary in their retelling of the story. To this day, humanity still awaits the return of the Fugitive God.
