Does it matter?

Every single day on Tumblr I see all these posts of One Direction or some text put over a landscape that are getting thousands upon thousands of notes.

My question is why can’t we make this post like that?

I believe that Tumblr has the potential to do amazing things.

My name is Alexander Salisbury and I have a dream of giving up everything I have at home here in California and moving to a village in Haiti called Pignon where I will become a Missionary as well as a Professor of Mathematics and English at one of the few operating universities in Haiti. 

I was part of a Missions Team that went to Pignon in August of 2012. Needless to say this trip changed my life. I wasn’t prepared for all the things I was about to see. It was different for me seeing malnourished little children and animals lying in the middle of the unpaved roads, it was different knowing that most of these people were fortunate to receive one or two meals a week, and it was different knowing that back at home I had taken absolutely everything I had for granted.

The reason I am writing this is because I can’t do this on my own. I need your help in order to raise the necessary funds to make this dream come together.

The purpose of this post is not to guilt trip you in to donating money. Many of you may not be able to donate. But you can help me in another way that doesn’t cost you a penny.

Even if this post “doesn’t fit your blog style”, please just take a moment to reblog it so that others may read and possibly decide to assist me in this journey.

Haiti needs our help more than you can imagine. Most of you may not be willing to give up everything and dedicate your life to assisting these people, however I am.

This is the legacy I want to leave when I die. So please before you just pass this post on by just stop and think of how donating or even reblogging this post may change the lives of people in need.
