This is the Elion-Hitchings Building. It’s futuristic look had it appearing in science fiction films and TV, most notably Brainstorm, Natalie Wood’s last film. It was built in 1972. Sadly (and perhaps predictably) it was just demolished after being abandoned for years. Interesting looking but the shapes were a terrible use of space, making a significant percentage of the interior square footage unusable.

Each class of service on the JAL 747 Garden Jet was a different type of garden. First class was “Garden of Wisteria.” Economy class had three gardens: “Gardens of Wild Orange, Pine, and Maple.”

They do have oranges and yellows here. It still counts...right?

Howard Hughes died owning thousands of undeveloped acres in and around Las Vegas through the holding company Summa Corp. William Lummis, a cousin, one of several court-appointed heirs, took control of the estate in the late 70s and began recasting Summa as a real estate developer. One of their first projects was the Fashion Show mall, developed with builder Ernest Hahn. The mall opened 2/14/81.
