“And here I thought I could invite you to somewhere cool where no one knows you... and now that’s just sad.”

“Yeah it is pretty good. And for the record I’m holding  out there are a couple more slices. If you want some.”

“No, I don’t want to eat something that’s your lunch.”

“Sure.. that sounds good.”

“Great.” she smiled and made a move to take Imogen’s hand to take her with her.

“Um… out? I mean.. it’s a nice day.”

“Sure. Sounds nice. Would you want to walk up the hill?”

“Not really.”

“Okay then we’re friends now.”

“I’m alright. Thank you for asking.” Sofie said politely, “I’m just… Awkward. Not very good with people and stuff.” She cleared her throat. “I didn’t mean to waste your time, I just wanted to give you back your things.”

Emma felt awkward because she felt like she was talking to a robot or something so she just nodded. “It’s fine. Thanks... I guess.”

“Sure.”

“In or out?”

Sofie swallowed hard and stretched out her arm, presenting the wallet to the other girl. “It’s no problem. Glad I could catch up to you because… Um, well. Yeah.” She said softly, looking down at her feet.

Emma took the wallet and saw the other girl act strangely. “Are you okay?”

“Nothing, to be honest… you?”

“Nothing yet... want to hang out?”

“Anywhere far away from the spotlight.”

“Where does no one know you?”

“Yeah, sometimes it’s better than being around people.”

“Well this isn’t so bad though, is it?”
