The fact that the painting lie wasn’t addressed but Will did come out to Mike (and co) tells me we’re either getting byler canon or the painting won’t be brought up again. It would have been a perfect way to have Mike reject Will gently and have Will come out that way in V2. To bring it up at this point, in the finale, if Mike actually doesn’t reciprocate, would just result in a really unnecessary rejection convo between Will and Mike since Will already rejected himself to Mike (and co). Unless they really wanted to drive it home that Mike doesn’t feel the same, and tortured us with a second rejection scene - which of course is possible if they hate us - if the painting is mentioned again I really don’t see how narratively it would fit if they’re not endgame.
