Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was made to be SEEN, not READ. I’ve seen hundreds of people saying they don’t like the book/script, but it wasn’t made to be read. It was made to be witnessed, to have the life and energy from the actors guiding it along, to have the sound and visual affects adding incredible detail to the story, to have props and costumes to bring the characters alive, to be sitting in a theatre surrounded by Potter fans and to have an atmosphere so magical you never want to leave. The story had its highs and lows, Draco’s redemption arc was the highlight of the play while I was disappointed in the portrayal of Ron as the comedic sidekick, yet there were highs and lows throughout the whole damn series, and people still tend to love those. People say ‘Harry would never tell his child he didn’t want him’, but in that moment when Harry yelled it I truly believed him, because it was natural, it was life. You can’t expect Harry to be this perfect man, he has a temper and Albus certainly pushed him to the extreme. Some people don’t like this older version of Harry because in their own mind they created their own version of older Harry that is vastly different from the canon one. Don’t take away from this extraordinary play because it doesn’t match up with what you believed in your head, and certainly don’t judge it if you haven’t seen it. These actors are gorgeous, I got to meet a few after and you could tell they were super happy to be in the Potter universe, don’t ruin it for them, because let me tell you they are some of the best damn actors and actresses I’ve ever seen on stage, and I’ve seen a heck load of theatre. The cursed child is a masterpiece of our generation, created by one of the most magnificent authors this earth has ever had. Please don’t ruin it, appreciate it, because it told a damn good story in a damn good way.
