I will admit I REALLY like the recent improvements they've added to tumblr's search (you can exclude terms now!! you can search multiple tags!! and time frames!!) so it's not like they're incapable of adding useful features. it might be mutually beneficial for us as users if we were more vocal about things we want and don't want. Some features I'd like to see added:

spoilerable text

spoilerable images

the return of hover text!! remember when we had that?

ability to embed videos in reblogs

ANIMATED GIF ICONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

the ability to turn off other people's animated gif icons

the ability to filter original posts on a user's ENTIRE blog, not just a tag/search

more html support, like what if we could build tables

adding reactions to replies! I'm glad we can like them more but it'd be nice if we could take this further

embeddable tiktoks?? I don't even use tiktok but I remember trying to embed one in like 2020 and I'm surprised we still can't! even vines were able to be embedded

being able to search in your DMs. not being able to do this is why I tend to redirect mutuals to discord

i beg of you. give your favorite artists the attention they deserve. don't just like their posts.

reblog them.

comment on them.

share them.

repeatedly.

artists thrive on this. it is vital to showing our work means something to people. it encourages us to keep sharing.

and it so disheartens me to see so so much beautiful art here with tons of likes and only a handful of reblogs/comments. the disparity is too wide.

i urge you. tell your fav artists what you like about their work. reblog their work. scream about it to the void of tumblr.

even if you feel like your voice doesn't matter or you don't have enough followers to make a difference. i promise you -- your voice matters.

let's remind them we don't want them to change anything about how the reblogs work, and in fact, leave the notes system how it was. the op should be the only one to get credit for the post they made.

and we want them to actually tackle the problems already here, except trying to change things that work.

how about they stop terminating trans people's blogs? how about they stop terminating poc's blogs? how about they actually deal with the massive bot problems? the scam blogs asking for money with 29024 different blogs but the same formats?

how about they get rid of the porn ban altogether? since there's still a lot of porn on this site and their implementation of trying to get around it is dogshit at best?

i've seen gifsets marked explicit that are just. people holding hands. two gay people kissing fully clothed. a bald black man. that was marked explicit.

let's not stop when we have momentum. since they're pretending to care what we, the users, think, let's keep sending them feedback, a day from now, three days from now, heck, a week from now, a month!
