i was trying to look at all my new brushes and had a wonderful time

its may again, which means that a whole new class of talented working artists is about to enter the job market. I hope you all already know to never work for free. unfortunately, thats just the tip of the iceberg in terms of mistreatment of working artists. work on a set of policies that anyone booking you for freelance work has to agree to. especially your friends. now that money and your survival are a part of the game, you cant leave anything up to a handshake. people act like work and personal relationships are separate, but its money now. if people are keeping you from making a fair amount of money from your work, its personal. business is personal. so, heres my advice: have a cancellation policy. have a 24 hour policy. lower your rates for friends, but dont do it twice. if you are not making enough money for the work youre doing, then let this be your final draft. dont say its ok when someone unbooks you without notice. make an online portfolio. get money up front. isnt it awesome to be a creator? go into the professional world and do your thing. build, sculpt, draw, paint, animate, write, make. and get fucking paid for it.
