To celebrate autism acceptance month, I’m going to post something positive about autism every day through April.

I want to give a shoutout to autistic EDM producer Aleksander Vinter, better known under his alias “Savant”.

Vinter is a 31 year old EDM producer from Norwegian. He has been diagnosed with Aspergers when he was young, “with a little bit of OCD and ADHD springled in”.

His alias is a joke about his autism, referencing the fact that he has an almost savant-like ability to create music. Vinter’s special interest is (obviously) EDM music. Because of that, he claims to have created over 10.000 songs, although he only releases the ones he considers 100% perfection. He has currently released 17 full-lenght albums, as well as various singles, remixes and mixtapes.

That’s not even the most impressive part! Because of all the EDM he has listened to over the years, he eventually grew tired and annoyed over the repetitive nature of modern EDM, so he has decided to change his style completely in every single album.

For example, the album “Vario” has funky, light style with video game elements mixed in:

The album “ZION” has a far more hardcore style with middle-eastern elements:

And then there are super experimental albums like “Protos”, which is meant to sound like the type of music you’d hear in a saturday-morning super hero cartoon:

I usually don’t listen to much EDM, but I absolutely love the varied and creative music produced by this guy. I’ve heard many other people say the same. Even if you hate EDM, there is a chance you’ll still enjoy albums like Protos. Vinter is completely unique, there are no other musicians out there like him. 

I think this is relevant to autism acceptance month, because if it wasn’t for his autism, he wouldn’t be able to do what he’s doing. Most musicians do not have the time or energy to produce 17 full albums in under a decade, let alone the creativity to find a completely new style for each of them. Vinter has been very clear about the fact that this talent stems from his autistic obsession with discovering new and unique sounds.

By far my absolute favorite track from Vinter is “Burgertime”, which is a remix of various rude remarks about autism to show people that he just doesn’t give a fuck what they think:

Vinter celebrates his autism in everything from his music to his alias. He’s proud and happy to be autistic, and I just think that’s awesome.
