Welcome to the Emerald City

I like when they have a meet ugly. I like when Peter starts off hating Wade, wants to ignore him, but can't. Yappers, the both of them. I love Peter has to accept Wade isn't as bad as he thought. And tries to keep hating him anyway. There's still plenty to hate. That's why Peter's thoughts fixate on Wade sometimes. No other reason.

Meanwhile, Wade's vibing. Living life (poorly and unendingly), taking hit jobs where they pop up, being tortured by the writers as much as he is his own decision making. You know. The usual. Spider-Man's one of his many super hero fixations he happens to run into every once in a while. He knows he doesn't have a chance with Spider-Man. That doesn't mean Wade won't shoot his shot and get in Spider-Man's head about it. But he knows.

Besides, the more time Wade spends with Spider-Man, the more he realizes he's an asshole! Like a really mean asshole. What the hell! Still hot, but damn.

As it turns out for Wade, when you're trying to make a genuine effort to not feel like a terrible piece of shit all the time, knowing a mean, goody-two-shoes, no kill asshole who believes in the power of change or whatever is pretty useful. Spider-Man has never had a problem calling Deadpool on his bullshit.

Besides… they're kinda sort of friends now, right? That's what he's been telling his daughter, so at this point he needed to get in Spider-Man's good graces or look like a liar to the only person who's opinion really matters.

I loooove a slowburn. I love the idea of it taking a while. That even as they get closer they don't drop their guard around one another completely. Not for a while still.

This is essentially my vague interpretation of the Spider-Man and Deadpool team-up comics I've read up until the big 50 issue Spider-Man/Deadpool run where they start patrolling together and what not. What I think they're feelings would be with each other up until that point.

All that to say I like when it starts out antagonistic like it does in the comics. That in the beginning Peter is sometimes needlessly cruel to Wade because he jumps to conclusions about Wade's done. Their patrolling together (and especially meeting Ellie and really understanding Wade's motivation) represents a turning point for the both of them, especially how Peter starts treating Wade in the future.
