The entirety of Kelsingra is so insane Amber is placing her hand on his arm and he compares it to the way Molly used to, they're sharing a bed but it's not the "it's only one bed" trope because they've literally done it a billion times before instead it's comfortable and familiar and domestic and safe, they're drinking brandy together, Fitz is naked in a pool in their room and comments on the fact that the Fool is getting some sight back by saying "I liked that her eyes settled on me" as if that's at all a normal platonic way to express your relief that your normal platonic best friend who is currently staring at you while you're naked in a pool is slowly healing, they're carrying out negotiations together in sync like they know one another's thoughts, like they've done it a thousand times, Fitz is waking up in the morning and sitting in bed and just watching him breathe, Amber is standing behind his chair and placing her hands on his shoulders and giving him the strength to resist the skill river simply by her presence, they're having soft little conversations alone in their quiet little bedroom like what the fuck theyre married theyre basically married what the fuck

The fact that they basically LARP as a married couple for a whole entire book and then some and Fitz doesn’t really freak out about it even once? Like people just assume they’re banging and Amber’s going around “our daughter” this and “our daughter” that and Fitz is just rolling with it? He misses Molly and he doesn’t deny that grief but he also let’s himself be openly intimate with Beloved and on some level I think he kinda likes it. He’s done giving a fuck what other people think, he’s old and his daughter is missing and if he wants to walk around arm in arm with his Beloved by golly he’s gonna do it.
