A Method swapping between objects in ruby (method swizzle) objective C has a weired feature, it can swaps 2 methods between objects, so if you are trying to call a Method1 from Object1 it will call Method2 from Object2, i created a solution for that in ruby as there is no native implementation in our lovely language, but Matz Gave us a great dynamic language to hack in to. first i aliased the two methods in the classes of the two objects then i reimplemented the two methods in objects to call the other method. this way you can swap methods between objects and as Classes itself is an object it self we can swap the new method or any other class method :D https://github.com/blazeeboy/RubyScripts/tree/master/2014-06-03

Create a graph of all defined Classes i wanted to see ruby classes and each class connected to its parent i used the ruby-graphviz, it turns out that there is another gme named graphviz and it is not the one tha will work correctly. my method was fairly easy, i get all defined constants then filter them to get classes names only, after that i add a node for each class, then iterated on them to add edges between every class and its parent, and then i saved graph as png and pdf, an output example looks like this http://imgur.com/Z1LfLn1 https://github.com/blazeeboy/RubyScripts/tree/master/2014-4-28

How do i automate creating these posts images as a software engineer i get lots of projects to finish and posting new scripts everyday should get less time, so i had to automate more and more parts of this process. i notice that creating post image with illustrative comments is taking about 5/10 minutes to finish, so i had to automate this part. first thing i convert code to well styled HTML using a script i created and puclished before, then i convert it to image using another script i also published earlier, as the image is toooo long i had to crop and make it beautiful with title of the post over it. i searched for a Gem to do it and i couldn't find something more nicer than the famous Cairo library, i used rCairo the Cairo ruby binding. https://github.com/blazeeboy/RubyScripts/tree/master/2014-4-23

Forgiving ruby sometimes when you write in ruby fast enough you may miss some character, maybe miss write a character or something, i thought that there is a way we can make ruby more forgiving toward your writing mistakes it is easy we'll monkey patch the Object class to respond to methods that doesn't exists but there is another method that is quite like it. https://github.com/blazeeboy/RubyScripts/tree/master/2014-4-22

Facebook Bot responds with code output this script is a bot that will wait for anyone to mention you in a comment with language name and some code he want to execute and see the output, script will get the comment and parse it, then use an old script i have written before to execute scripts using eval.in website, gets the output and comment back to the same post with output, status code and a link to the code page on eval.in website. you will need to create a facebook user, register it as a Developer, create a new application and get access token then modify the constants of the script (app_id, app_secret) and then execute the script with access token as parameter and execute it again without parameter to make it listen to notifications, the script will work only on comments in groups, as i exclusively made it for egyptian geeks group, if you want you can remove the filter of notifications and it'll erspond to everyone, but that will be headache and my consume your application rate limit the idea of this script is not mine, it is made before by other developers for IRC and Reddit, i created it for facebook :), have fun https://github.com/blazeeboy/RubyScripts/tree/master/2014-4-21

Convert Ruby scripts to HTML and Markdown first i have to say that my scripts will be a little longer than ever, to be more verbose and less encrypted, so images associated with my posts will be cropped and linked to full post on Github, post will contain an HTML version and code file. this script will read ruby code and parse it and split it to set of blocks (code blocks, comments blocks) and then output HTML format or Markdown Format, make sure your comments are written in Markdown format. i combine this script with an older one that convert HTML page to PNG image and then i use Cairo library to crop it and write the post title, you can use it to generate beautiful code documentation with a bit of enhancement (index page and links back in each page maybe). https://github.com/blazeeboy/RubyScripts/tree/master/2014-4-20

post to your linkedin account using ruby this was to as simple as it looks, first the linkedin gem installation is simple we know that just "gem install linkedin" the example of linkedin gem usage was longer, first you have to generate an authentication request url pass it to user to open then user will get a pin he copy and paste it to your application, application will get authentication tokens using this pin. it turns out that linkedin already generate these tokens for you, if you tried to ask for authentication then use the tokens you got it'll raise an error (500), so the solutions was to just use the token without trying to form a request to authenticate. the problem is when you create the application in linkedin developers portal it doesn't tell you anything about these token and leave you to find out yourself how to use them :D, one other thing, when you post using an application to from linkedin web interface, your post will take time to appear on your timeline, it won't appear instantly, so be patient. nice one linkedin team, nice one https://gist.github.com/9934039
