background #2, here we are
after the basketball episode, I would periodically continue to feel a pull in my upper right calf. I did physical therapy and nothing targeted where I felt the pull. in July 2015, I got an MRI done of my upper calf and nothing showed up. my doctor said he could do a SUPER risky procedure that might not even help me, and my mom was against it (luckily). my mom made me stop all running and I played water polo for a couple of months until my first high school basketball season. I ended up making varsity and I was fine, sometimes I would kinda feel a pull but nothing bad. my calf and knee never hurt. I played JV lacrosse for my school and only felt a pull in my calf once out of the whole season. a small part of me knew that something was still wrong but I never said anything. my brother is an avid rugby player, and his club started a girls sevens team and they knew I was somewhat athletic and they got me to join. I went to six practices and at my very first game (ever): I got the ball, ran past a girl, then jumped off my right leg to cut through two girls and I felt the pull again. this was the worst I have ever felt. (I pulled it 30 sec into my very first game, and have never tackled or gotten tackled. lol) this happened on the Saturday June 11th. on the Sunday, above my knee swelled up. my mom took me for acupuncture on the Monday and my lady (she’s amazing) told my mom that she doesn’t know what’s wrong and that I should go to an orthopedic surgeon.
on the Tuesday I got ARP for my leg, (active release technology) and it helped a lot. on the Wednesday I got more acupuncture and the swelling by then was down 90%. later that Wednesday I saw the orthopedic surgeon and got x rays and nothing showed up. on the Thursday I had an approved MRI (it was super fast) and got an MRI. Later that Thursday I flew to another city for my brothers rugby tournament. on the Friday my surgeon called my mom with the news that I had a torn ACL, possibly both meniscuses were torn, and my MCL was torn. basically I did almost my whole knee, but I was walking fine.
on the following Sunday I flew to South Africa and vacationed for 3 weeks, and I came back and had my surgery on July 15, 2016.
