RoyEd Week Day 5 - Mermaid/Siren AU

Roy Mustang died three months ago. He never went searching for Edward and Alphonse in Resembool, and so they never joined the military (maybe they don’t even have alchemy- I’m not sure). Instead, Edward follows in the footsteps of his now missing father, and becomes an investigative reporter for a newspaper, writing stories about the Amestrian military and the skirmishes on their country’s borders. Alphonse works with his brother, conducting research and acting as a field photographer (although he takes more photos of cats than of the subject of their writing). The pair go driving around the country in their car (which Ed has crashed many times over). 

Edward decides to write a story on Roy’s professional and personal life. And so the fic would be about him meeting and interviewing the people who knew Roy the best (and sneaking around Roy's office and residence to get the more intimate details). Edward quickly finds that there's more to this guy than meets the eye, and through his interviews, he starts to feel as if he actually knew him. In a way, he metaphorically brings Roy back to life.
