My name is Elowen and I create supplements and adventures for D&D 5e.

I'll be using this blog to post teasers and images (and also to host those images so I can use them in places that need web images) as well as to announce and post my projects.

I currently publish my work on the DM's Guild, but if I make non-D&D content it will be appearing elsewhere, so here will be one of the best places to keep up with what I do!

Ever felt the way D&D 5e handles shields is lacklustre? Were you ever frustrated that a small tea saucer of a buckler offered the same +2 AC bonus as a tower shield as tall as its user? Perhaps you don't even mind that every shield in 5e has the same stats, but you just want something to add a touch of extra spice to your next session?

This is Better Shields, and it's a simple one-page supplement I designed as my first piece of tabletop game design a couple of years ago. I made it to make player choices more interesting by making different shields behave slightly differently. It does buff player characters slightly, but it was designed to avoid wildly unbalancing them.

This supplement came out of seeing someone else's attempt at a table of shields for 5e on one of the D&D subreddits and Having Thoughts about the approach that person took with it - a few months and several revisions later, and I had a supplement!
