Loyalty is a choice-reliant pixel rpg about a chow chow named Chilly. The game begins with Chilly departing this life, resulting in him frantically trying to return home and reunite with his owner, Michael. Desperate and confused, Chilly is accompanied by a spirit guide dog known as Kisses, who instructs Chilly on how to accomplish his goal. During their journey, Chilly slowly discovers the disturbing truths of the dog spirit world and the residents that inhabit it. Not everything is as it seems.

The overall concept of Loyalty’s battle system is going to consist of many individual minigames where your goal is to win and collect souls from opposing dogs. These minigames will reflect the enemy’s personality, past, and/or how they died, giving each “fight” a unique experience. With this in mind, Chilly’s health bar as a thermometer mimics and continues to reference how he died: trying to cool down. So during each fight, when you take damage - the health bar will tic up a notch or a few. Once the thermometer reaches full capacity, you essentially pass out from heat exhaustion.

The health bar is only relevant during the battle screen, and doesn’t have any environmental factors that can affect you while the player is exploring the open world.
